I am glad the mid day game on Thursday is the Cowboys game. 3 games is a bit silly though. The Cowboys and the Lions have played on Thanksgiving traditionally, but adding other games is just stupid.

I do hope Matt Flynn destroys the Lions though. That would be quite addition to the legend of Matt Flynn.

He did pretty well for someone that did not even get first reps in practice last week. Should be interesting to see how he plays on Thanksgiving.

Could get him another 20 or so million contract some where after the season to warm a bench. 🙂

ESPN and the like avoid talking about any west coast team that isn't the Lakers so I'm not shocked. I respect the Seahawks even if I disliked Carroll back to his USC days. He's built a great team up there.

Try being a fan of the South East Alaska Seahawks, it is even worse than 49'er coverage, albeit not by much. I brought up the issue of east coast bias in another NFL weekly thread, and someone pointed out that ESPN needs a narrative or storyline to really cover a team.

Now that ESPN has been given a Seahawk storyline thanks to our dope smoking secondary, they are getting more coverage in the past few days than for all their on field play the entire season! Oh well, we all know ESPN sucks anyway, and thankfully there are many great websites for coverage.

ESPN even took away Mike Sando! He was the Seahawks beat reporter and did an awesome job, he is from the area and a fan. Now they have some scrub who used to cover the Texans I think and barely makes his 1 blog post a day quota.

Here is something to make everyone feel better:

Josh Freeman is getting paid roughly $529,411 per week to ride the pine. I'd wear the hat and carry the clipboard for that kind of dough.

What was Matt Flynn being paid last season and this season?

That's just from the Packers this year. Think he is over $13mil from the Seahawks, Raiders and Bills over the past two years.

OOOH

That explains why the sites were all weird with his pay numbers. I honestly didn't know who he was until earlier this week.

What do you think the Vikings will do during the off season at the QB position? Draft another, free agent signing, continue with Ponder?

I honestly don't think they can continue with any of their current QBs. They might play one of them for the next two years while at Gopher stadium, only because those two years are losses anyway.

I was one of those people on the side of trading Peterson and Allen for draft picks and look at picking up a whole new team basically. At this point and looking forward to two seasons of outdoor play, they need to take the time to regroup and look at a solid team 2-3 years down the road.

If they could draft a solid QB draft, keep him completely off the field for a season and have him learn, put him in for a while year 2, then full time year 3. A solid QB plus the current available receivers and running backs would be devastating to other teams.

The only issue after QB is that basically the entire rest of the team is falling apart. Defense has major issues, offensive line has some gaps. Ugh.

Maybe start at the top and axe the coaching staff first.

whoa, Flynn went to the Bills, too?

😀

Packers really should just hold on to him. I know a lot of QBs really want to play and all that, but damn if he doesn't have a great job there.

He was there for 3 weeks or so when Manuel was out with an injury.

Really? The greatest free-agent going into last season? The huge contract signed to start for Seattle, after having two ridiculous games stepping in for Aaron Rogers that season?

It was stupid, sure, but there were some people thinking that he might be at least as good as Rogers, after those performances--granted, it was a great team and all that, but he looked amazing. I think it's obvious that he just knows that system really well.

So then the Waterbirds draft this Wilson guy really late, he somehow manages to steal the starting job, then proceeds to troll the rest of the NFL. Flynn starts flying around the league to try and plug in various holes this offseason and throughout the season. I had already forgotten about the Raiders, too--and I think GB just picked him up from them last week, right? 😀

LOL crazy!

I really never paid any attention to the Birds until Lynch had his beastmode run.

For that kind of money I could pretend to be an NFL QB too.

you really need to keep your alt accounts in check

you never criticize your own stupidity?

I posted something stupid, I need to be called out on it. If I catch it before anyone else, its my job to flame myself just like I would anyone else.

If the Vikings go with the 2-3 year plan, yea why not trade Peterson and Allen? Then again, this is the NFL and teams can and do turn around very quickly but it is often through solid drafting and a few key free agent signings. I bet Vikings management will quietly listen to offers for both of them. You could obtain some unbelievable draft picks for those two.

As to drafting a QB and sitting him for a year or two to learn, I can't help but think that era is over. After what Russell Wilson, Luck, RGIII, Tannehill, .etc have done recently, I think expectations have changed. And who would this rookie QB learn from?
