Well, hopefully with XBox2 using WGF, and all the next-gen GPUs being a lot more like PC video cards (and with games running at similar resolutions), ports from those consoles will be smoother than console ports in the past. But basically the only way to make what you're asking for happen is to rewrite the game engines and rework the art assets completely for every platform, which is not realistic (as it would at least double/triple development and testing time).

So basically you're just being stubborn and refusing to admit that -- to paraphrase -- 50 million console gamers can't be wrong.

Even if future ports are smoother, within 1-2 years of the xbox2's & ps3's releases game developers will have to hold back and games will look nowhere near as good as they could for a PC for the next 3-4 years, until the xbox3 & ps4.

Majority can't be wrong? :laugh: You using AOL then? Obviously they're the best ISP, by your logic... odd, I thought they were banned on AT, yet here you are posting... How are those Bose speakers treating you? Your audiophile friends impressed? 😀 You Muslim?

I suppose I'm hoping some rationality will set in.

I thoroughly enjoy the console threads, but it is annoying that most every one of them turns into a PC vs Console thread. You are probably the main antagonist in these threads.

So yes, I'm hoping that you settle down, because you really aren't accomplishing anything positive for anyone.

You obviously have some strong ideals, and truly do want to change the world. But that's just not going to happen posting those convictions on a msg board some 26+ times a day.

If your argument is "games would look better if they only had to be made for one platform", then yes, that is true. And yes, the PC is currently the best(-looking) game platform available -- although it is also so expensive at the high end that if it was the only gaming platform available, the gaming industry as a whole would be a lot smaller.

Ports from a less powerful/capable system will never look/play as good as native titles on the better system. But unless the gaming industry settles on a single platform (unlikely to happen soon for a number of reasons, plus such a situation would likely result in hardware stagnation due to monopolistic effects and so is probably not a good idea), it's just something you will have to deal with. Whining about it does not help, and just antagonizes people.

I never said that consoles were the "best" solution, or were better than the PC, just that many people seem to find them worth the amount of money that they retail for. Ridiculing people because they have different tastes or find value in different things than yourself is foolish at best.

You read way too much into my statement, which was that game consoles are very popular -- far more popular than the PC in terms of the gaming market. Writing this off as "well, they must all be idiots" (as you seem to be doing) is, IMO, being ignorant of the way a free market works.

I didn't state "a majority can't be wrong". That's how you interpreted it. I stated that in the case of game consoles, I don't believe the majority is wrong. Although I do suggest you check out that book I linked to above; it turns out that, in a lot of cases, the majority is right more often than you would probably think.

At first, I thought maybe he had a valid point that he truly believes in. But his lack of even attempting a rational conversation, when they are put in front of him, has revealed that he's only here to troll.

I don't make it a habit of hanging out in OT, but I'd guess that a vast majority of his 26+ posts per day are very similar. Attempting to get people upset is the easiest/laziest way of getting attention. And judging by the amount of his life he spends on this msg board, it's apparent he has nowhere else to turn for attention. Sad, really.

If you meant "in the case of consoles, I'm of an opinion shared by the majority of people", fine - but you didn't say it. As with my comment on Islam, things don't always sound the way you want them to, but don't pretend what you said did - otherwise you wouldn't have to clarify it. Any time you want to go back on topic, feel free. I don't think much more can be said about it. The horse isn't just dead, but actually starting to decompose.

Rossman is a great guy. No need to "call him out", because he's never insulted me like you have.

I mentioned Skoorbs post count just the other day, when he was insulting people who play MMORPG's for "not having a life".

If you are happy spending an incredible amount of your day posting on a msg board... If it somehow makes you feel superior to sling insults at people who have a different opinion of you, on said msg board... Personally, I think it's a bit sad that you think this is the best way you can get the attention you desire, but what can I say? <shrug>

That's beside the point; if you're making a statement about people based on their ppd, the statement includes everyone with said ppd or higher.

You think maybe it's time to rethink your stance on consoles?
