You console v. PC people  I have both, I like both, why does everyone keep trying to tout one over the other????? I will keep buying both because they both have things I like about them. If you are in a position where financially it is one or the other, stop posting here, it is unproductive, and go make more bank 😉

Because a lot of these people invest so much money in one or another, that they need to believe that they made the better choice (classical cognitive dissonance)... so inorder to convince themselves, they need to convince you.

That makes perfect sense. Rationalizing sux 😀

you obviously have no idea what you are talking about Pr0d1gy

whether you like (or dislike) the software on the XBOX is irrelevent, the fact is the XBOX has HANDS DOWN the best multiplayer support for a console system...what can it compare to, the horrible PS2 online system? give me a break. the xbox has some very good games including KOTOR 1 and 2, generally the best versions of multi-platform games and some good upcoming titles like Conker...besides the fact that it has gotten some pretty good PC ports over as well (e.g. Morrowind)

does the XBOX stack up to PC's in FPS multi, the answer is "NO!" but for many people who have a old computer and only use consoles for gaiming, its a great system...(just so you console players know, Halo2 is junk compared to about a dozen PC FPS games)

(i was also let down by Fable) but i have also ben let down by many PC titles as well, so your logic is poor in that respect

and the PC really does not have a real wide selection of games...the PS2 has a "wide selection of games" how many good platformers are on the PC? how many DDR or Beatmania games are on the PC? how many RPG's? how many racing games? MUCH less versus console...

what it looks like is you prefer PC games, and thats fibe, but dont knock consoles just becasue of your game preferences...you need to do more homework before jumping to such invalid conclusions

i'll be pre-ordering if the price is right......

I think the XBOX has been a great success and was only meant to be a toe in the console gaming waters for Microsoft.....I don't think it was meant as a long term venture.....The PS2 has had time for the games developers to get to know the hardware and software and get the best out of the machine.....I don't think XBOX 1 has reached its peak yet.....

I think XBOX 360 will be around a while longer than XBOX 1

Not me. Looks like any of those games good have been on any system out rigt now. Graphics do not intrigue and thats the main selling point MS is trying to push for 360. i hope its a failure.

and i honestly cant imagine the type of person that plans to spend $300 on release day

please, tell me WHAT makes it so interesting for you that you want to buy it on day one and throw down $300 AND $100+ in games. i really dont see anything worthwhile in it.

well i haven't bought a console since Genesis . . . . i may continue the trend. DEPENDS on PC gaming. 😉

i don't want 2 complete systems... . . What's wrong with 'either' 'or' not 'both' ? 😛

i really don't "feel" like i missed out not having the Xbox/PS2 . . . only a "twinge" as each new console launch puts the PC gfx to shame . . . and then a year later, while the console is UNupgradeable, PC gfx pulls ahead.

oh, yeah i only play FPS and have just started to like RPG . . . .

So, NO. i won't be getting a next gen console UNLESS it is utterly "amazing"

amaze me 😛

😀

My money's still on the PC

It's only $400 total for the system and two games...... what's the big deal? A good vid card currently runs that- and you don't get to choose the games it comes with(if any). It is a gaming platform- it is where all of Bungie's titles are going to be, it is where all of Rare's titles are going to be, it is where RS and Forza will be landing along with PGR. BioWare is signed on, it is likely that the KoTOR series will land on it prior to hitting the PC- why isn't it worth the $400? When the XBox launched in 2K1 I paid $300 for it, right now I can sell mine for $100. At that time- the GF3 Ti500 was the hot card running in the $400 price range- how much you think you can get for one of those now? In terms of depreciation, initial investment, or its gaming worth the XBox360 looks to be an incredible bargain.

You do realize that KoTOR's lead platform is XBox, and BioWare is currently focusing their efforts on the consoles? All of the major players in the RPG business are console first, PC if we get around to it(which they often don't). I know you like your shooters, but if you expand you genres even a little bit having a console around is more then worth it. I actually find it is worthwhile to have multiples of them all- and the least played of them tends to see more actual gaming time then any of the PCs.

You spend your money however you want braddah, just don't tell me how to spend mine 😉 My xbox lets me use it as not only a platform for my sports and driving games, but it plays all the media formats I watch too e.g. Xvid, DIVX, avi, MPEG2, jpeg, ect. and with DD 5.1 nv APU goodness. I have the xbox handling gaming and multimedia in the master bedroom. Playing the games from the HDD, having wireless LAN capability, linux with web browsing, and even being capable of crunching a DC project if you'd like is pretty sweet for a minimal investment. Can you rent PC games to try before you buy there? I can't around here. Huge benefit of console IMO, not having to take a chance like you did on D3 😀

im not sure about xbox360

at the very least i will wait for PS3 to come out....but nah ill be buying PS3 regardless, GT5 will be too good to miss im afraid.

Have i EVER told you how to spend YOUR money?

Ever?

Rent PC games? no, but i "trade" and/or resell them . . . i paid $37 for D3 the week it was released and sold it 10 days later for $25 . . . how bad is that?

Your entertainment system is nice built around a console . . . i don't feel like i lose out with my wireless KB + mouse. 😉

just can't see why i would need to spend any more [of MY] money for a console when i am satisfied with the PC 😉

KoTOR II is still buggy as hell - even with the patch . . i will get it when it is bargain bin. KoTOR is the ONLY rpg i ever played more then a couple of hours - the others bored me to tears. i finished KoTOR ans really DO like it but am not going to get a console just to see IF i like others. 😉

I play mostly FPS, RTS and simulators. So I probably will not be buying an x-box.

Although, I played the shyt outta my PS2 so much that it finally broke, ever since I got into PC gaming I've never gone back to consoles.

One of a few ppl that speaks the truth. Truly, if you've never played Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Zelda series, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Halo multiplayer and so on you are missing amazing gaming experiences. Similarly, if you havnet played far cry or HL2, starcraft, warcraft 3 and so on you are missing out. For a truly rounded gaming experience you must own both consoles and PCs. If ppl dont agree with this statement, they are not true gamers. SuperMario 64 or Zelda: Ocarina of Time blow DOORS off Doom 3.

It's the principle for me. I'm not going to go out and buy a gimped version of something I already own two ungimped versions of just because fatcats at M$ & $ony want more money.

..I recall when the first xbox came out it was selling for sky high prices on ebay and costco was selling em by the pallet. Are we in for a repeat of this frenzy??

indeed

hell if you were serious about gaming of all types youd have all the consoles and a pc....infact i know two people just like that.

for me i play RTS, FPS, flight sims on the PC. keyboard and mouse, joystick feels right.

but i love the racing games too, and to be fair, Colin Mcrae rally, GT4, Burnout are all better played or can only be played on a console. i would really like a PS2 pad that would work on the PC, but its just not the same.

yes the PS2 may have a bit of trouble producing colourful images at times, and the ailiasing is bad, but on a normal TV u dont notice. and when your thrashing about with your mates on the couch who the hell cares if there are jaggies

If it is anything like the last one it will initially be high but come donw quickly...rumor has it they actually mak no money or take a slight loss per each unit (like printers and printer companies) and then make a shite load of money on overpriced 40-50 dollar titles...I person buys a 300 dollar console but buys 6 games and spends the same amount....they will make money off of the games, added features, and the online packages....

so far, only the specs sound impressive. however, the games aren't showing anyting impressive in the graphic department that a regular XBox can't accomplish.

If the Xbox2 is anything like the xbox1 as far as games, HELL NO.

Xbox doesnt come close to the great titles PS2 offers.

I'll have to wait and see.

Looks to me like Xbox 360 has a very strong launch lineup. I'll be buying one day 1.

Personally, I thought in the end, Xbox ended up having a stronger software lineup than PlayStation 2 did - but maybe that's just my taste.

Gears of War?

I will buy it when it is around 300 because consoles don't have always the best launch titles or I can just play them on the computer if they are ports.

are you sure you want to even try to play it on your pc lmfao

look wats in your pc compared to xbox 360 lol

I just posted an analysis of the hardware in the other thread, In essence: The CPU is impressive but Cell is much faster, the GPU is mediocre and can be easily compared to a X700 pro in terms of fillrate.

I think I will stay true to Sony... been with them since the first Gen - FF, GranTurismo, MetalGear and GTA seal the deal for me.
