Who else is replaying Mass Effect 1 and/or 2 in anticipation of 3?

I completed 1 and 2 many times, on both a pc and 360, but sadly those saves are long gone. I picked up ME2 again and the Genesis DLC, which lets you make all the decisions from ME1 and carry them over, and started an Infiltrator on insanity. So far the combat has been challenging but not unfair, and I look forward to using party members other than Garrus and not-Wrex who I used in every previous playthrough.

Anyone else doing a rush or play through for import? I know the decisions won't make a big difference in 3 but it is cool to use the same character, and to have the previous events fresh in your mind.

Replaying ME2 right now. I still had more achievements/DLC to do anyway. I've completed ME1 100% so I'm not doing it again. I'm doing my insanity playthrough and just made it through the Collector ship (widely regarded as the hardest part) - very happy about that! In fact, I'm doing infiltrator insanity just like you.

If you haven't made it to the collector ship yet, tips:

1. RESPEC! Take advantage of the respec capability to go totally anti-barrier/anti-armor before the collector ship mission. Heavy warp ammo and heavy incinerate are very helpful. Disruptor ammo is pretty much totally useless on this mission.

2. Bring the Blackstorm! Blackstorm shots fired at the second and third collector platforms that show up makes an incredible difference in the first and nastiest fight, especially since the resulting explosion tends to throw some of them completely off the platform, killing them instantly.

Never played any of them, so picked up MC1 and 2 for 360 a couple weeks back but time is short so I expect it will take many weeks/months before I'm done with them in any case.

Thanks for the tips, I'm sure I'll need them. Not totally impressed by the infiltrator yet, but I'm only level 3 so I'm sure it will get better as more strategic options open up. Also regretting taking geth shield as my extra skill.

I'd like to replay ME1 but there's not enough time. So I'm trying to finish up two partially completed ME2 characters.

I hope they release a Genesis for ME3, or update the one that's out. But I'll probably do a ME1-2-3 marathon at some point anyway.

I want to, but with 2 exams and a project this week, no chance. But I have saved games from Solider and Infiltrator classes in ME2 I can bring over, in the latter everyone survived. So it should be fun.

You start to feel pretty badass later on. Assassin Cloak + M-98 Widow + Heavy Warp Ammo with a headshot is devastating. 🙂

I took Warp Ammo as my extra skill. Remember that you can change your extra skill by doing research in the Normandy tech lab, so all is not lost if you are not happy with it.

Bought ME2 at Walmart a few weeks ago for $20, but haven't even opened it yet. I wanted to play ME1 first, so I grabbed that for PC. I'm a couple hours in, but I haven't had time to dump into it.

PS, for anybody that's looking to buy ME2. Best Buy has it for $20. However, if you buy their @GAMER magazine ($5) there's a $15 off coupon for ME2, which brings the total cost to $10 for a brand new copy.

Post back with some impressions.

Anyone take advantage of the me3+kinect offer at gamestop?

Haven't got to play it yet. Have other stuff to do right now. Plus hopefully I will finally use my kinect. I've had it since before Christmas without using it. lol

If any one plans to pay cash or wants to get this game cheap. You might want to consider going to GameStop. Their preorder DLC is going for about $40 on ebay.

If you buy from Best Buy, make sure you mention the preorder bonus. It WILL NOT PRINT on the receipt automatically. They have to add it on.

I will be, I've only played each one once.

Not right now though, too busy with SWTOR -- playing the 4 Republic class stories now, then I have the 4 Empire class stories.

By the time I've done that and replayed ME 1-2 there should be a GOTY with all eleventy DLC items included. Maybe they'll even make up with Valve and be on Steam.

might have to stop by after work

picked my copy up after lunch and they had no idea about the rifle

I'd like to do this but don't really have the time to go through them again. I still have 1-2 along w\ all of my save data. Just played them this past year so it hasn't been all that long.

Just ordered ME3... hopefully have it Thursday : D

on an unrelated note... Games like mass effect really throw a wrench into anti piracy talks. I may have downloaded both 1-2... and they were so good that I bought both, and now have bought the third at release. Not just anybody gets $50 out of me for a new release.

it works the same way with music. I downloaded a bunch because it was not available in the states. Once it hit iTunes, I downloaded it all legally.

Still a thief. Morally it is ridiculous that Bioware's artists and programmers and their salaries should have their compensation be at the whim of the entitled consumer.

They're still at my whim, and I bought it. If it wasn't good, they wouldn't be selling so many copies at $60 and $80. Anyone who sells a product is at the whim of the customer; entitled or not.
