I keep forgetting that it's even happening till someone reminds me. Then it annoys me cause I have to buy things that I wouldn't normally buy, and I have to take 2 days off from work when i have a schedule to keep.

I love Christmas. I hope I'm not an exception on ATOT.

I love it too,it's one of the best times of the year in my book :)

If christmas upsets you b/c you miss work, you need a stiff drink and to find a massage parlor

my family never celebrate anything.
xmas to me is just another boring free day offs.
things taht aren't really special to me, all the gimmicky days, halloweoen, birthday, vday, new yr, labor day, vet day.
u name it , i dun care~~
all these days are ways to get consumers to spend money on stuff...by reciprocating (Sp) gifts, companies get u to buy more and more while they make more money off of u, doesn't this all make sense now: )

the only reason i don't like christmas is that i can't afford to give my family the things that i really want to.

Christmas is usually a nice thing, but these past couple years have been nothing but big, depressing, fake flops that I would rather go unnoticed. :(

Christmas is only fun until you become 16 or 17...after that it is a pain in the ass.

opposite for me... now that i have enough money to actually get decent presents (as opposed to shoplifting them :p) i enjoy it more.

Exactly. Who care's if it has been commercialized? As an owner of a small business, I love it, and as a consumer, I enjoy it. Who is getting screwed here? For me it reminds me of my early childhood, which while it wasn't long ago (I'm 18), it still seems long ago. I enjoy giving people presents and making them happy. Sure, if you just buy them some sh!t, it doens't matter, but if you buy them a gift that you put a lot of thought into, it really feels good.

I enjoy going to the malls during christmas and spending more money than I have, like I did with my family when I was younger. I enjoy waiting in long lines to buy gifts for people I care about, like I did with my family when I was younger. I enjoy the tacky christmas decorations everybody puts up, like the ones I put up with my family when I was younger. I enjoy driving through lit up subdivisions while the snow is falling on christmas eve, like I did with my family when I was younger. I enjoy sitting by the fire with my family on christmas morning taking down our stockings, like I did when I was younger. I enjoy making my parents happy when the see how much I like what they got me, like when I was younger.

It seems that as I am getting older, there is less and less time for all this. When I was younger, we would put up christmas stuff at least a month before hand... I remember this calendar we had, and every morning you would take a little felt ornament out of a pocket for what day it was, and pin it on a tree. I haven't taken that out in years. This year we just got the christmas decorations up less than a week ago. My mom hurt her back very badly, so she can't really go anywhere or do anything... I had to take my dad to the ER a few nights ago because he has a problem with his tooth, he hasn't been able to do much of anything the last couple days. My brother isn't coming home from college until tomorrow. This year Christmas seems more like it was thrown together at the last minute. But it still reminds me of my early christmases, and that makes me feel better.

Exactly! It's seems so much more forced. I don't even have a tree or decorations up. Or any presents wrapped. Nothing.

Well to me it doesn't seem so much forced... I have just had such little time, and so much crummy stuff has happened in a short amount of time.. I haven't had time to do much. I just found time yesterday to go shopping, but I still haven't gotten all that I need.

I really hate Christmas especially when I have to put up with my asshole brother and his bullsh!t. I think I would rather blow my head off and poke holes in my own brain with a fork than have Christmas and my brother be there. Did I mention he is an asshole?
