who eats 1000 year old egg?

i was watching a report on fear factor yesterday and one of the things they made them eat was 1000 year old eggs. they were soooooooo freaked out by it. some people were on the verge of vomiting!!

its a chinese food, not extremely popular, but enough so that probably most chinese know it and have eaten it. i know ive eaten it and several of my friends- and i still do on occasion. its not disgusting to me, but i guess thats because i grew up with it, kind of like how people grow up with meat and liver and stuff.

who here has eaten 1000 year old eggs before? and who likes it? man, i was feeling so mad because if i went on fear factor, id be able to defeat all of them so easily. id eat 3 if i had to.!?!?!!!!!!!

btw, not really a 1000 years old.. more like a couple months.
They're really good with soft tofu, soy sauce and seasame seed oil, tossed / served cold.
 
It's not really 1000 yrs old, and the egg white has turned into this see through coffee color gellatin, and the yoke is green. It's quite tasty if you ask me. Try it.

exactly!!! see, you have some sense! youd be able to win $50,000 no problem! hahaha, just kidding. anyway, ive had it with the recipe you mentioned. its actually not bad tasting at all. i think its the thought of it that freaks people out. not the taste.
 
They're just another "fermented" food... never drink Sprite with it... YUK!

It's one of the few "basic" foods I know of... (as in not acidic)

Most all fruit and vegetables are non-acidic.

Of course, there are exceptions. 😉
