Who drinks what, how much do you think these drinkers make?

How much do you think the drinkers of these kinds of beer make, when you see them at the bar?

1) Economy, $1 -$2 (PBR, Old Mil, Keystoneetc)

2) Mainstream - $1 - $4 (Miller, Budweiser, Coors etc)

3) Premium niche - $6ish (Microbrews, Becks, Guiness, etc).

4) Premium - $10-20 (Belgians, special aditions, 750ml bottles, etc).

Just curious to see what people's impressions are of how much money someone should make to drink a certain class of beer.

What if I see someone drinking beers from more than one 'category'?

Your question is completely flawed.

Where would a 40 of mickey's fall under? I respect the shit out of anybody that can endure that kind of torture.

I assume your prices are per drink/ bottle....do people really pay $10-$20 per drink at a bar???

I don't pay attention at what other people are drinking. I go to a bar to talk to the ladies and feel awkward. That's it.

I drink all 4 types.

this

as I definitely consider Natty to be Economy, won't touch the others in the class though. I'd rather have flavorless than the flavor of the other "economy" beers. 😛

Never have seen the 4th category in a bar, but I have definitely ventured into a liquor store with the intention of buying such a beer (750ml bottle of beer, or other large bottle of premium/specialty brew). It's a treat, not a regular activity. I almost equate it to buying a cheap bottle of wine. 😛
I'm not buying six-packs of the stuff with the intent to get drunk, I'm getting it to have a tasty tasty beverage to slowly savor (hopefully, as mostly these ones are just "hmm... I should try this"... later, a few are like "D: I have to drink this?! ugh")

Not thinking, I ordered a 10oz glass of Chimay White at a bar. After I finished it I asked the bartender how much it was and he said $10. He ended up giving it to me for free for being such a loyal customer. 😀

Becks and Guinness aren't mainstream?

If I can buy it in a Safeway it isn't premium.

My Safeways carry Mendocino, Kona, Spaten, etc... (not that Spaten is a microbrew), but they do carry some decent beers. Not as high-end as some of the small shipment Belgians, but definitely not an entirely mainstream selection.

lol for Becks or Guinness not being mainstream, and classified as microbrew/niche. LMAO.

When I was in Belize it was far easier to find Guinness than it was to find any other beer except Belikin(Belize beer), so yeah... so Guinness as a microbrew? 🙄

😛

Guinness has about the same world-wide market penetration as Bud & Bud-lite. They are so mainstream it hurts.

The category was built on average price, not availability. They are not listed as Microbrew(Guiness) but as Microbrew, Guiness. I defend that I was not calling Guiness a microbrew.

When I was in Ireland I saw some crazy fools paying stupid prices for Budweiser and Coors at the Tesco, and I seemed to be the only guy in line with Guiness.

EVERYTHING is retarded expensive in Dublin. I also prefer Kilkenny to Guiness. no way in hell was I going to shell out 9 bucks for a freaking pint of Guinness draught. ridiculous. (this was in city center/Old town)

Kilkenny draught, on the other hand...

I guess we're all millionaires here in Sweden because the cheapest you can find a beer for at the bars is about $7.5, for the cheapest types that taste only slightly better than a glass of water 🙂

My town isn't even very expensive. The worst was when I was at a place in Stockholm where 11oz of Budweiser cost about US$11.
