No one mentioned the most underrated actor in Hollywood, Michael Keaton (Batman, Multiplicity, etc.)

love those 2 tho... great actors.

my vote goes for al pacino. pacino is good as a mobster (ie: scarface, godfather). but he was also good in serpico as a cop who refused to be dirty, (guess you can count heat also) but let us also not forget scent of a woman, and devils advocate, even a football coach in any given sunday.

also, a lot of credit to tom hanks and the stuff he has done, he's definetly deserving also.

Excellent picks so far Norton, Roth, Leguizamo, Penn.

How about Ellen Burstyn? Or what about that great performance by Naomi Watts a couple years ago? That one showed a bit of range, don't ya think?

Tom Hanks & Russel Crowe come to mind
But there are a lot of good actors:
William H. Macy (This guy has played about every role imaginable)
Sean Astin (from Toy Soldiers to Rudy to LOTR)

Pacino did an alright job in "Scent of a Woman"(played a military blind SOB) and in "Heat" (played a cop).
