I have a $130 headset that my old work gave me. Use it all the time but take it off when I'm not using it cus wearing it forever gets uncomfortable. I don't know how people can wear them all the time.

I refuse to use a bluetooth headset... I had one once but when I used it, either I couldn't hear the other person or they couldn't hear me. I know one of those people who wears the headset constantly, even when they're not driving, and I can't stand talking to her on the phone because I can't hear a fucking word. And it's not even a cheap one, it's one of those crazy expensive Jawbone ones.

Cliffs: bluetooth headsets suck ass.

I was driving to work this morning and drove through that part of town early enough to see the hookers walking home. Nothing to with the question but I thought I'd share. One was kind of cute.

What I'm afraid has happened is that people have become so accustomed to multi-tasking such as message boards, watching TV and doing homework all at the same time, that devoting one's attention to only one item at a time, i.e. driving a car, they get bored. So to avoid the "boredom" of driving a 2 ton death machine, they just mindlessly pick up the phone and call people they know, until the car trip is finished.

God help us all.

During the school year my life begins at 5:30am. I'm well into my day by 7:30. I still don't have anyone I need to call, while driving, at 7:30am.

I spent a whopping $25 to get a built in bluetooth kit for my car. My phone sits in its holder and if I do need to talk, it stays there. No need for me to screw up other people's days because I had to take a call.

daily conference call with other people in different time zones where it isn't 7AM?

Our sales team is always on the phone. Right now I'm at a site where the customers start their day at 6:30, so if I was on their sales team and in the car it would be more useful for me to be calling one of them rather than sitting on my ass.

Give text to speech a bit to mature. On Android phones you can now hit search, then simply say "navigate to Perk's mom's house" and it will automatically launch nav and start navigating to her house.

I've seen way too many idiots fumbling with their GPS's on the highway. Its just as bad as cell phones.

No one has answered my question yet. Who do you need to call at 7am???

What would it do if I said, "navigate to Old's basement"?

No idea. I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would want a Phone on their person 24/7. All that reachability ain't healthy.

Not everyone works 9AM - 5PM. I currently work 9PM - 6AM. In the past two years, I've reported to work at just about every hourly interval between 4PM and 2AM. Also did the 1PM shift for a month.

Sounds more like your hearing sucks ass, your headset sucks ass, or (more likely) both. I use my bluetooth headset almost exclusively, even when I'm not driving. Plantronics 975. I'm on my 3rd one of that model. I ran over the first one accidentally, and lost the 2nd one, so don't take it as though it isn't reliable. I like it way better than the Jawbone2, which I have also owned.

It's a nice perk that I get to expense my headset, even when I lose it/destroy it. :)

Lol.

You guys try and run a business. I am usually onsite by 0730. So i might be calling electrician or supplier while drinking my morning coffee and driving. I keep breaking the hands free cables. I will get a new one just for you Op

At 7AM, in my car, I'm calling one of my mistresses to let her know I'm coming over for a booty call. Did I wake your wife? :\

I get into the office before 6:30 and my boss would often call me on his way into work. He would typically have a full day of meetings lined up, he knew I usually had something to do later in the day so I didn't like to stay past 5.

So that was when we would just have "what's going on" conversations because otherwise it would never happen.

You also look like a complete douche if you wear it all day, everywhere you go.

What happens if a guy pretends to talk on a cell phone while driving, gets pulled over and ticketed, protests the ticket and goes to traffic court, then proves he really wasn't talking on it through phone logs... does he win? Does he??

Then he gets a DWI.

I don't understand this. Every morning I pass countless douchebags on their phones at 7 or 7:30am. The only reason I notice they are on their phones is because they are driving way slow, swerving, or just generally being asshats.

Now I don't talk on my phone much. But I can't say I have ever had a need to call someone at 7am.

My question is...who the hell are you people talking to and why is it more important than piloting your vehicle????

Talking on the phone while driving are assholes, yes. Regarding your rant about who people call some of us start our working day really early. I work with a global team so I'm pretty much 24/7 for these guys (conference calls, status on deployments/project, ordering status, etc, etc).

Hello, friends.

I'm here to start a debate. My point is simple:

Bluetooth isn't any different than using a cellphone.

Enjoy.

I usually drive around with my phone hooked up to the aux port in my stereo, listening to pandora. Any phone call I get is routed through my stereo for hands free calling.

What would it do if I said, "navigate to Old's basement"?

Android 2.1 and 2.2 will just route you to his house. I think 3.0 will divert you to the nearest mental health facility.

And it isn't any different than talking to someone in the passenger seat. Actually, it's probably safer than that because talking to someone in the car sometimes involves taking your eyes off the road and looking at the person you're talking to...

Let's ban talking to people in the passenger seat!!!!!

I leave for work at 6:20 and frequently get paged while on my way to work. I'm on the turnpike and don't dare pull over since there isn't much shoulder and people are wizzing by at 80 mph. Good luck merging back in also. So, I have to call in and see whats going on and try to troubleshoot the problem on my way in to work.
