I don't understand this. Every morning I pass countless douchebags on their phones at 7 or 7:30am. The only reason I notice they are on their phones is because they are driving way slow, swerving, or just generally being asshats.

Now I don't talk on my phone much. But I can't say I have ever had a need to call someone at 7am.

My question is...who the hell are you people talking to and why is it more important than piloting your vehicle????

No one needs to be on the phone while they're driving. Phones should be automatically disabled if the GPS shows they're moving more than 5 mph.

However, many people's lives begin before 7 a.m., so that part of your rant is moot.

Obviously they are calling their workplace/wherever they need to be, to notify them that they are going to be late. The reason for being late is because they're talking on the phone and about to crash into someone.

I talk on the time while I'm driving. There's this new fangled device called a bluetooth headset. It's just many people can't do more than one thing at a time.

Also like Boomer said, not everyone starts work at the same time in the day.

During the school year my life begins at 5:30am. I'm well into my day by 7:30. I still don't have anyone I need to call, while driving, at 7:30am.

I spent a whopping $25 to get a built in bluetooth kit for my car. My phone sits in its holder and if I do need to talk, it stays there. No need for me to screw up other people's days because I had to take a call.

The woman you took home from that biker bar mere hours before to see if she did indeed find her stash of morning after pills and, of course, to get her name.

What happens if a guy pretends to talk on a cell phone while driving, gets pulled over and ticketed, protests the ticket and goes to traffic court, then proves he really wasn't talking on it through phone logs... does he win? Does he??

What if I'm on a Subway/Train/Bus, or not the driver? Or a doctor who receives an emergency call (they should pull over to talk) but not letting the phone receive calls wouldn't work. I understand and agree in principle that people shouldn't talk while driving but that auto-disable isn't a viable solution.

I hate those damned things and refuse to own one. Although, my car has bluetooth built in to the stereo, I rarely use it because I rarely use the phone in the car.

I'd be surprised if I used 70 minutes a month actually.

Sure it is. Most cars now are bluetooth enabled. IIRC, MSsync shuts down text messaging while driving.

I watched a guy tie is tie while driving. Then when he finished he cleaned his entire dashboard, while driving

I wanted to get out and smack him.

It only blocks txts if you hit the do not disturb button. However, not being able to set the GPS while driving is an extremely good reason for me to never buy a ford again.

Give text to speech a bit to mature. On Android phones you can now hit search, then simply say "navigate to Perk's mom's house" and it will automatically launch nav and start navigating to her house.

I've seen way too many idiots fumbling with their GPS's on the highway. Its just as bad as cell phones.

No one has answered my question yet. Who do you need to call at 7am???

Bought a car today from a guy I could only assume was a salesman. We met at a mechanic's shop to get the car checked out and stood around waiting for five minutes while he finished up a phone call. After that, we drove to our bank and he had to quickly end his phone conversation in the parking lot. Then we went over to his bank and the same thing happened again.

Not a bad guy at all; actually, he was really personable and friendly. But wow he was CONSTANTLY on the phone. Even early in the morning.

I have a $130 headset that my old work gave me. Use it all the time but take it off when I'm not using it cus wearing it forever gets uncomfortable. I don't know how people can wear them all the time.

When I'm driving, the only time i talk on a cell phone is when it's peered to my bluetooth head unit, so it's completely hands-free.

If I'm talking to someone before I get to work, that means that something, somewhere, has gone very wrong.

I used to see guys walking in the gate at 5:30 in the morning talking a mile a minute on their phones and see them at different times during the day and they'd still be talking non-stop. I don't have that many words in me.

I agree that no one in their right mind would be having a CASUAL conversation at 7 in the morning. Ok, work call, got to have something ready by 8 am, I gotcha. But I've seen people laughing it up like they're catching up on old times...at 7 in the morning!!! These people are insane idiots.
