Legos RULE!!! I owned a small classic set. None of the technics and the non-block crap. My proudest building was a roller coaster ride made completely out of short or long or flat blocks anchored by the weight of the TV in our living room. Sigh, wish I had taken a picture or two of it. I think my mom dumped out the set after I stopped playing with them. :(

<< You know, everyone's posting about their castle or technics sets but the most complex piece I ever had was the 1" grey gear and the black axles. :( That and a tubload of bricks... lots and lots or red, blue, yellow, black, and green(?) 4x2 bricks.

Am I old?
>>

Just like me! I'm 23, so we aren't old! :) I feel older than most my age though...

Legos were great. I have 2 huge tubs of them in my closet. I haven't used them in 6 years, but the times I had with those. Man, I can still remember the huge docks setup I put together, with boats and all. The whole thing spanned my entire living room floor it was so huge. I can't wait till I have kids and then build stuff with them in Legos. Help bring back some of the old childhood memories and fun.

You lucky bastards. When I was a lad, all I did was go to Toys R Us and just peer into those glass windows with the pirate ship and castle sets. When I was 18, I almost bought a few sets then figure, where has my life gone? lol

Ah yes, legos, used to be my favorite toys until I got interested in computers. It's nice to see other having spend just as much time on them as me, I have all my old legos stored in boxes in the basement, several years since I've looked at 'em though. But the memories make me want to go get 'em and build some spaceships, hmm, in which box did I place the complete M-Tron series?

Had them as a kid and passed them on to my son, that way I can still play with them and not look foolish :) Tip for traveling with kids, buy some of the more complicated kits and toss one to them every couple hours, occupies them for an hour or so building the kit, them even more playing with it. :-D

Anyone see the Malcom in the Middle episode where the father and youngest kid build an entire "utopian" city in the living room? Pretty hilarious "you are embarrasing me in front of my men."

<< Always mixed all the boxes I had, making very big spaceships (2-3 feet long). They never lasted long though. Everytime my brother and I had a heated argument, he would fling my spaceships down the stairs. >>

I remember some similar scenes ;) My brother had the pirate castle, and when I had an argument with him... I just kicked it ;)

[Edit]And remember, it's a sin to sell your old legos ;)[/Edit]

Legos were the pinultimate vehicle of imagination and creativity in my childhood. I loved them then and I love them to this day..... However, I am VERY disappointed in recent offerings from the company. What ever happened to REAL Technic and REAL Space and REAL Basic. All this new Bionicle and SW crap is uncalled for, not to mention all of the other weird attempts at the various themes of recent times. There is one remaining hope for Lego; MINDSTORM. But that is so high priced that it is unreachable to the average family/kid/youth. It's as if Lego has taken all possiblity of creativity or use of imagination out of playing with Lego blocks. They have these speciallized kits that you can't make anything else with but the thing on the front of the box.

What happened Lego? What the hell happened?!?

yeah, me and my brothers had a ton of legos when we were kids, its basically what we got for Christmas every year. That big green tank you could build, the space shuttle, the monorail, oh man the monorail kicked @ss! the instructions were good for a one time build, but we always did something else with them, like building armies of men out those thick 2X4 blocks...you know what im talking about : 2X4 for head, 2X4 for the arms, 2X2 for the waist, and another 2X4 for the legs, then the little brother came along, and that meant building the ultimate ship that could withstand him. I finally made something out of roof shingle tiles that looked like the merrimac. he could throw it down the stairs about 4 times before it started to weaken.
at the height of it, we had a whole footlocker full of legos, but they gradually disappeared over the years till we had none...i dunno what happened to them all
