Do I dare say ACORN?

GWB did not hold any real town hall meetings. All public appearances he made in the US (wheter speech or a showcase "town hall meeting") was before a carefully selected and screened audience of syncopants.

Now that we have the opportunity for actual public discourse and discussion the tactics of the GOP and its allies are to hijack those town hall meetings and scream down all opposing viewpoints.

The prevailing theme all the way through-the GOP and their allies don't want any sort of discussion of ideas, just a rubber stamping of their agenda.

I'm at a loss as to how you tie ACORN into this, unless it is under the Faux News theme that ACORN is responsible for all the evil in the world since the beginning of time.

Tell your friends, talk to people, attend the town hall meetings that they now want to do via phone instead of in person. Fight this shit. Tell them we will not stand for this.

What I want to know is...where were all of these concerned teabagging republicans clamoring for privacy and civil rights when wiretapping programs and clandestine spying programs were tapping and collecting people's communications?

you guys are so full of shit.

The silence is deafening. Had Dub done this they would cheering him for making sure America learns the truth. Remember "You have nothing to worry about it you aren't doing anything wrong."? They are all phonies and hyporcrites.

How you guys can even compare the two is beyond me.

But by all means - deflect, deflect, deflect and bu-bu-but bush some more. The people are waking up and seeing what this president really is, and that's good.

To all Obamabots and partisan hacks: If your administration came up with a plan that is simple to understand and would/could work, people wouldn't be so paranoid.

Most of my friends/acquaintances who are in the medical profession have a lot of reservations, if not flat out reject Obamacare.

You want people to come up with a plan to regulate a 2.5 trillion dollar industry that covers 350 million people from all walks of life and make it simple to understand.

Well that seems like a reasonable request.

How you can pretend otherwise is as plain as the nose on your face, the nose holding up your partisan blinders. Your outrage has nothing to do with privacy or civil rights. It has everything to do with your hatred of Obama and your fear he will expose your lies about health care.

I voted for Obama, yet I wish I could attend the meetings and shout just as loudly as the rest of the opposition to this healthcare nutroll. (unfortunately, I'm stuck in Iraq at the moment).

Where did you and so many others get the idea that it's only the GOP or right-wing wingnuts who are angry and opposed to the current healthcare reform proposals?

I guess because to them "GOP" or "right-wing wingnuts" = enemy.
You do not agree with the chosen one => therefore you are an enemy.

Not surprised when it comes from a partisan hack like you.

Because it suits their purposes to revile anyone who disagrees with them. Also, they believe it's an easy way to intimidate the moderates - 'you don't want to be seen as 'right wing' do you? Only those evulz subhuman right wingers want to stop us and you certainly don't want to be one of THOSE.'

Simple translation - 'ok for us, not ok for you'. Rationalize all you want, but that's what you're saying. If you hated Bush for doing it, you have to hate the current admin for doing it or your nothing but a common hypocrite.

This is a beautiful summation of why UHC run by the .gov will fail. Congrats on proving the non-obamaphiles' point. Does this mean I have to report you now?

No ferrelgeek, my post meant nothing of the sort. Bush broke the law, obsma didn't. Spidey is ok with the former, but not the latter. I guess his actual problem is the govt. Letting you know its collecting your emails. See how easy it is to argue when you make up things for people to say? Makes you think, huh.

Except the "it" in question isn't nearly the same thing in both those instances that are brought up. One required law to be changed retro-actively, the other hurt someones wittle feelings. If you can't see the distinction, well ....

so you believe that a simple to understand plan would be supported by the repubs? well, then, lets try a thought experiment.

the simplest plan imaginable is a single-payer health insurance system. assuming you're correct (that everyone, including the right, would go for a simple plan), then where's the right-wing call for single-payer insurance?

Look! Another partisan hack!

I'm affliated with neither party. UHC (single payer) sounds good in theory but I have no faith in our government that it can be implemented successfully in the first try.

Like your Obamessiah, I want a health care system that controls costs, provide decent coverage, etc. Whether his gang (Pelosi et al.) is doing that is another story. Obama has shown no leadership as president to try to get this thing done right in the first place, hell, maybe he really is guided by ideology. They want us to subsidize losers and deadbeats, and independents like me are telling Democrats to fvck off.

I'm glad to see that blue dog Democrats are forcing them to compromise. I'd probably vote for a decent blue dog Democrat if they run in my district. Obamessiah and his liberal utopia gang is nothing but a bunch of retards.

So, for the record, you're OK with reporting people who disagree with Obama. That's the topic under discussion. BUsh is now part of history - move on.

And no, I don't think that the .gov can run a UHC system without massive deficit, massive tax increases to try to offset said deficit, rationing heath care to control costs, or be highly invasive to people's privacy.

interesting. an accusation of partican hackery, followed by 2 paragraphs demonstrating partisan hackery. rejecting the republican label does not absolve you of partisanship.

To all Obamabots and partisan hacks"

do you really not see the irony in that statement???

anyway, i agree that Obama hasn't shown much leadership on this issue, but as i mentioned before (and no one responded to, probably because i didn't flame anyone) that's deliberate. Clinton failed to reform healthcare because he came to Congress with a full-formed plan. Obama's trying the opposite tact. i don't think it'll turn out to be the right one, but it's obvious why he's trying it.

Obsma? Thats a new combo of Obama and Osama if I've ever seen one. Seems to prove 9/11 was an inside job if you ask me.
