White Pizza

QueBert

Lifer
It's so much better than regular Pizza, the cheese sauce underneath the cheese makes it sooooo rich and delicious. I like Tomato sauce, but a good White Pizza is just so incredible. It's sad so many pizza places don't have a White Pizza 🙁

White pizza should NOT have a cheese sauce of any kind. White pizza is dough, garlic, olive oil, cheese (moz and parm) and Italian seasoning.

I wish people would quit calling crap that ain't pizza pizza. White pizza ain't pizza. Chicken pizza ain't pizza. Cardboard covered in pesto with pinenuts ain't pizza. Anything with broccoli ain't pizza. Pizza is pizza and nothing else is so folks should think of other names and quit trying to to bestow the aura of pizza on their latest concoctions.

Incorrect. White pizza is simply any type of pizza without tomato sauce. My family grew up on Pontillo's white pizza for example: dough, ricotta, mozzarella, tomato, broccoli and spinach. I'm not a huge fan of ricotta though. Other white pizza's I've had have had garlic cheese sauces, cottage cheese sauces, alfredo sauces, etc. As long as it doesn't have TOMATO sauce, it's classified as a white pizza.

Living in the Chicagoland area, the home of everything pizza, I must say that I've never heard of this "White Pizza" you speak of. Therefore, it cannot be counted as pizza.

It shall hence be referred to as dough-glop

Uh...that's because Chicago doesn't have pizza pies. They have pizza cakes.

Pizza is defined as a flat dough with savory ingredients placed on top. So, yes, all those things you mentioned are pizza (except the cardboard, unless you mean Domino's). Just b/c you don't like them doesn't mean they're not pizza.

Now get off your pizza high-horse, Mario.

This guy has it right.
Papa Murphy's has a good one. They're definitely not "better" than standard pizza, but neither are they worse. Just different.

You're right.
In Italy any kind of pizza without tomato is called white pizza in the menu.
My favourite one, and I think is the most famous as well, is the four cheese pizza.

look pizza snob fuckers, it's called a WHITE PIZZA, because it's not a normal pizza. Just like Chili with Beans is called "Chili with Beans" because it's not normal chili.

A good White Pizza, either the kind with Alfredo, or the kind with garlic & oil is NOM NOM NOM better. Tomato sauce is good, but a White Pizza has more flavor and is more unhealthy. Both are plus in my book.

so it's a win win for White Pizza. Also it's win because the name raises eye brows, a lot of people don't know of them and when I tell my black neighbors I'm eating a "white pizza" I've gotten strange looks and some mumbling, a couple called me a mother fucker. But once I gave them a slice they saw the light.

I really like traditional (at least for my area) white pizza --> dough, olive oil with garlic, onion, and basil as the "sauce", mozzerella cheese, tomato slices, italian seasoning.

In NYC, the white pizza typically has ricotta cheese on it. It's good too.
