It's immoral to kill.

Lets say I come home and there is a gang in my home beating and gang-raping my girlfriend. I get my auto shotgun out and dispense of the gang with it. Would that be an immoral thing to do? If so, what should I do in this situation?

No because the ONLY guns exist is to kill. That is all. Guns should be banned because joe average has no right to own something who's express use is to kill.

whats wrong with that? oh you meant guns only exist to kill HUMANS.. sorry limey that is flat out wrong.

These black and white arguments always end up so pointless. Even with the hypothetical of kill or have innocent child be killed, the discussion goes nowhere.

You're right. But its funny to see them squirm and try to answer it, because their answer is obviously the wrong one. Usually they just ignore it, I guess time will tell for this one.

Such a baseless blanket statement.

You are going to tell me the purpose of that over/under is to kill?

Skeet are the single biggest threat to the human race.

Most of us just don't answer them because they're stupid questions posed by the stupidest of people ... and who posed the most recent of these black and white arguments halik was referring too ... hmmm.

Lets boil it down then.

Is it immoral to kill in self defense, or the defense of one's family?

If it is not necessary to kill to perform the defense effectively, then yes it's immoral. If the only option for defending is to kill, then no. It is immoral to kill when it is not necessary or there is a non lethal but equally effective option.

I'm trying to find where we differ.

Lets say there are 3 unarmed men that broke through my front door and they start ransacking my home. Taking money, jewelry, electronics, etc.

Is it immoral of me to fire upon them? Should I let them rob me blind while I wait 10-15 minutes for the police? Should I just pull my gun and not shoot, and hope it scares them?

I'm not arguing the morality of killing again. It's in another thread if anyone wants to read it.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2135708&highlight=

My stance is that killing is immoral. Read why above if you want to.

I don't need to read why because it doesn't matter. You don't get to decide morality for everyone, any more than I do. Instead, we agree that so long as we live in the same society (which we don't, but just for argument sake) we will be bound by the same laws (morality not withstanding). The law says I can kill in any number of circumstances. The law here also says I can own guns to do it. You don't get change that just because you don't agree.

Certainly his matters more than yours. He is a US citizen, you are a nobody.

Fuck off. Moron.

Ahh a hypocrite then. You eat murdered animals, and would kill a man even though killing is "immoral".

Firstly I changed my answer, I'd overpower the man.

Secondly if you want to argue the ethics or morality of killing please read my other thread I'm not doing it again.
