White girls twerking.. now racist??

I was really surprised by some of the criticism floating around the Internet (such a friendly, reserved place normally) of Taylor Swift's new 'Shake It Off' music video:The first time I heard the term & Googled it I read this:
Twerk
The rhythmic gyrating of the lower fleshy extremities in a lascivious manner with the intent to elicit sexual arousal or laughter in ones intended audience.
So I got the idea it was widely understood not to take it too seriously.
I can understand taking offense to Miley's use of twerking.. but Taylor seemed to go out of her way to not be racist in her video, having white girls twerk along with their dark-skinned sisters.

...
A more balanced take on her vid here

people have too much time on their hands. over analyzing a stupid pop video? sheesh

however i think that reaction is about perfect for the song's lyrical content.

The Sweatshirt guy?

One of those people complaining, at least, didn't even watch the video.

This is just like the Colbert report and the "social media activist"...

If white girls twerking is racist, then men twerking must be sexist!

P.S. If you are male and are not hung like a mosquito, do not attempt to twerk, no matter how much your women begs. It will only end in pain.

lol, "dressed in her black girl costume". Does that mean the few black hockey players are being racist?

This shit makes me both irritates me and makes me laugh at the same time.

Are you actively trying to out-stupid yourself every day you log in here?

whats stupid about it? if people are claiming something as idiotic as a white girl twerking is now fucking racist then real racism is gone or the idiots have no clue what real racism is.

fucking twerking? good god.

what next? wearing baggy jeans? watching tyler perry is racist?

Wait, so a bunch of oversensitive black people are being oversensitive? Color me surprised.

Crap like this is what the low hanging English majors do to desperately justify all the literary analysis they did in earning their degree. But it matters! No it doesn't.

I like some rap music... :ninja:

If white people twerking is now considered racism I think we can all agree that real racism must be a thing of the past.

Agreed. Some black people still think we live in the 1960s. It's 2014 and the most powerful man in the world is Obama. Blacks seem to think that prejudice is the same as racism.

I would love to see his comments on the Nicki Minaj Anaconda video.

Which is so stereotypical, it sets back any movement beyond the gutter ten years.

However Anaconda currently has 39 million Youtube views and Swift's Shake It Off has 27 million. I guess no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public, so give the people what they want.

Don't misunderstand -- the idea that it is racist for a white pop star to be "twerking" in a music video is amazingly stupid. That isn't what I'm talking about.

The suggestion that "real racism is gone" because of this fact is itself mind-blowingly stupid, however.

No its actually common sense.

If you have to resort to calling "twerking" racism then obviously there isn't any real racism going on. Or you would spend your time talking about that real racism.

Or I guess people who point out racism could just be a bunch of morons.

Take your pick.

hmmm, that coming from a racist and moron. sorry, but you can't take your pick nehalem.

Like sticking your junk in a toaster?

How the fuck does that even make sense? If today I said that Radiohead's music is terrible, then that means that there isn't any actually terrible music?

Or you would spend your time talking about that real racism.
Or perhaps the person calling this racist is as much an idiot as you are, and there is still real racism going on that the first idiot is too stupid to focus on? That circumstance is just impossible, according to you?

When did that idiot become the singular judge of what is or is not actually racist?

Or I guess people who point out racism could just be a bunch of morons.
Any person pointing to this as an example of racism is an idiot. Absolutely. Anybody that thinks that there isn't real racism in the world -- regardless of idiots offended by white girls twerking in music videos -- is a bigger idiot.
