Which would you choose: Guild Wars or WoW?

My fiance and I played WoW for several months before cancelling because the $30/month subscription fee for both of us was just too much. We both have Guild Wars and have played several times, but haven't been able to get into it as much (both only 7th lvl right now). Does Guild Wars get more fun as the levels go on?

Which is more fun, GW or WoW?

There are a lot of things about GW I like more than WoW, i.e. instead of spending hours running around you can just transport there instantly w/no penalty in GW (and no 60 minute limit w/the moonstone). Something about WoW was more addictive, though. For those who have played both, which do you prefer and why? We cancelled our WoW accounts but are considering opening them again (is that even possible w/out penalty?).

Personally? Neither, I don't much enjoy PvP. In your situation I guess it depends. The MMORPG monthly fee pays for a lot of things you won't see in a one-time fee game; bug fixes, new content, etc. Is that important enough to warrant $30/mo for the two of you? Btw you can get it down to something like $12 or $13 per account if you go with multi-month contracts.

Is there a thread comparing one to the other directly? This is a pretty significant financial decision for my fiance and me, and I'm trying to get all the info/comparison possible. I did a search for "guild wars" and "world of warcraft", but nothing putting one directly up against the other came up. Thanks! 🙂

Are you pre- or post- Searing?

I didn't really get into the game until post-Searing, but after that I really can't stop playing it. I'm a Level 11 N/Mo concentrating on Blood/Healing. It really is fun as hell.

my wife and i play on the lightbringer server in WoW. thought about taking up GW but it never really intrigued me.

Pre-Searing. What is Searing?

my friends want me to play WoW, but I dont really want to pay the $15/mo thing. So i'm trying GW right now. so far it seems a bit boring...

LOL, thanks for correcting me. For some reason, I always called it a moonstone. 😛 I think it's because I spent so much time in Moonglade w/my elf.

That's the feeling I get... that it's significantly more boring than WoW. Maybe because there aren't thousands of other people running around (can't watch raids, etc.), so it feels a little lonelier. 🙁

I won't get into what exactly happens, but it's a world event that changes the landscape of Ascalon. It happens after you finally take up a second profession.

Damn, sounds pretty exciting (thanks for not spoiling it). We'll keep playing GW for now, hopefully it gets better.

If $30 month is a significant financial decision, then maybe you should be saving your money.

And also, the world is actually HUGE. Pre-Searing shows you just a little bit of the world you'll actually be exploring Once you get to Post-Searing, theres many more quests, its much more about strategy, and just a better experience overall.

Yes, whenever my fiance and I (so far, we've only played together) leave the cities we're alone in our own instance. How many people do you usually play with in your party?

There's kind of one here, although my main point was that this is in the wrong forum. 🙂 I searched for "guild wow," btw.

We like playing together, and my fiance built me my very own computer so we could play side-by-side.
