Which University of California is Best?

yeah those are the rankings I'm looking at, but they had a way to narrow it down to Computer Science programs
Now you can only narrow it to "Computer" Degrees, which I think includes Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, whereas I based my decision on Computer Science alone.

*edit* just to clear something up: I believe that UCB's computer science program is the best. Followed by UCI, followed closely by San Diego. I don't think UCI's is the best of ALL the UC's (pretty close tho).

That link doesn't show specifically what Ollie was referring to. And I'm 99% sure that Irvine is not ranked ahead of San Diego in any category.

but do you notice how well UC's do incomparison to other state's. Thats why I feel California is a great place to goto college.

Although it's not the best, California State University of Fresno is moving up in the world. Technology and business aren't bad there. Anything agricultural related is great, naturally.

I graduated from UCSD so I am slightly biased. I did get in to more "reputable schools" but after visiting Carniege MEllon and UCSD(my final choices) i knew that UCSD had a better program especially for undergrad.

the research money fact, im not sure where i read it but it is pretty common knowledge.

UCI vs. UCSD, well i dont want to trash any school but UCI's program really seems to be a IT Degree rather then a CS degree.

As far as US News and World reports go i dont really care what their ranks say (UCSD is 17, UCI isnt on the top 20 list at all) but any ranking system that finds 9 schools that are better then cal tech is stupid.

considering ucsd is only 40 years old compared to berkley which is like 200 we have a pretty good reputation. I dont like berkely cause its full of dirty hippies.

UCSD all the way (I chose it over Berkeley).

With regards to the UCI/UCSD CS thing, UCI is better for one thing... gaming. (But as a UCSD CS grad, I still like it better 🙂)

geoff smells!

If we are talking academics... I have no idea.

When it comes to girls... Berkeley is alright (I probably hang around Soda too much).

Irvine's got ALL the hoochies. Went to visit my X down there... DAMN! :Q

BTW, Berkeley rent is suck! :disgust:

it's slowly moving up... Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is way better than Fresno and some UC's... But of course the name UC beats any CSU's any day....

:Q<(whoa, who you got at SD that's got you so biased?) 😉😛

No matter what UC, I think we can all feel pretty proud to be a part of the UC system. It's great!, no?

There's more to life than engineering, but there's little more to Cal Tech than engineering.
