Which type anethesia for Wisdom Teeth Removal?

Well, i'll be getting 'em out in a month or so. 4 wisdom teeth, and 2 extra teeth that I have. The surgeon recommended being put to sleep, but I'm leaning towards IV sedation (twilight sleep). For those of you who have had them removed in the past, which type of anesthetic did you opt for?
 
They only put me on happy gas/novacaine for my four impacted wisdom teeth and it wasn't too bad, so I don't think it will matter if you're even further out of it.
 
they knocked me out ( i don't know what is was, but i wasn't awake)

when i was in Navy boot camp, a bunch of poor saps had them out the military way, Novocaine only, those poor guys were in agony for days
 
The only people I put completely to sleep for extractions are the mentally handicapped or little kids. Go for the IV stuff, you wont remember anything anyway.

 
Local, like you would get if they were to drill a tooth. Didn't feel a thing. Didn't even need so much as a Tylennol the whole day, so I got free Vicodin.
 
I don't remember what I had. Whatever I had came in through an IV. I seem to remember my two choices being either local only (no way would I do that) or general.

Really the only disturbing part about it was that I was put to sleep in the dentist's chair, woke up in my bed at home, yet my mom claims I got up and walked from the dentist's chair to the car on my own, even though I have absolutely no recollection of that event.

Blacking out and losing memory just creeps me out for some reason.
 
Definitelty want to be asleep for the procedure. Just the after effects of getting them out was the worst experience of my life. I can't imagine what it would be like to not be asleep and have them yanked out, especially if they're still impacted.
 
I had them put me under. I'm glad... it took them a couple hours. They had to break the bottom two apart piece by piece, pretty much.
I mean, yeah, I stopped breathing a couple times, but I don't think it did any permanent damage damage damage.
 
None, it's not that big of a deal. I just had locals when I had mine out in the military...4 extractions, one of them impacted. Never felt a thing, in fact I fell asleep in the chair a couple times. Was in pain afterwards for a couple days, but during was nothing.

Honestly, the nitrous had me high as a kite, and the local had me completely numb.

I was trying to watch what the surgeon was doing the whole time. I started laughing loudly when he had to put his foot on the chair for leverage. 😛
 
I was awake and just injected with local anesthetic. I got to hear all of it, no big deal. I got codeine afterwards but only took it as a precaution for two days. The worst part was the stitches.
 
I had an IV run and it was glorious. Last thing I heard was the beeps from the heart monitor then I woke up a short while later in a wheel chair and everything was done. Brilliant!
 
When I had mine done. All I remember is them putting the needle in my arm and the nurse comforting me and telling me to count to ten. Don't think I made it to ten..
