It's because all I have to do to search something in Opera is type in "g" and then whatever I'm searching for.

Same. In Opera I type g <search criteria>

that's what he said...

Opera can be customized to use many search engines this way... at least I know it works with Dogpile & Altavista which are the only ones I use aside from Google. (& very rarely Yahoo)

I have them setup for all different kinds of input. Like 'n for newzbin' all you do is right click in the search field and click create search.

Quasmo taught me you can customize the search for any website, it's pretty freakin' awesome. Unfortunately I only use it for Google out of habit.

Google failed me once but like a sniveling leach I came crawling back.

Seriously I was searching for an ancient thermal plotter and punching the part number into Google came up with nothing. I punched it into something else (Yahoo maybe) and it came up on the manufacturer's site in a history article.

I still use Google for everything. Heck I don't even use the address bar; Google is the homepage, I just punch in where I'm going, tab-tab-space for "I'm feeling lucky" and voila, websites.

Google. Before that Yahoo and occasionally Altavista if I couldn't find what I was looking for on Yahoo and its "categories"

Same with firefox. I've got g for google, gg for google + I'm feeling lucky, w for wikipedia, a variety of different dictionaries, online man pages, imdb, and rfcs. It's way better than any other method of searching, the only thing that bugs me is that firefox doesn't keep history of the shortcuts so you can't do autocompletes.

Do you use Google or Google?

The other answers are statistically insignificant. They probably wanted to hit Google but their finger slipped.
