Why do you like Yahoo over Google? Asking seriously...

This is such a funny response, and by funny, I mean deeply disturbing, as if the asker is assuming that Google being the best is a proven fact.

It's the same when a person from religion X meets someone who is not from religion X. "Why do earth do you follow religion Y? I'm asking seriously."

I use Google as a search engine. But I use Yahoo for Finance, Movies, Sports, TV, Maps, Weather, MyYahoo, News, Flickr, Answers, and Groups.

I prefer their layout, find more relevant results with them, their images search is much larger, and best of all it isn't Google :p. I've never gotten what all the hype over Google is about. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I've never used Google; au contraire, I have a user account with them as well as Gmail, and from time to time use them as a backup (like getting a second opinion from another doctor) - I just get better search results with Yahoo is all.

I don't think this is the best time/place to mention that I can't stand NewEgg either.

Yahoo is my homepage, so I use it quite a bit.
Google b/c if I just type a search term into the address bar it redirects to a google search

Up until a few years ago I used Yahoo and Metacrawler on occasion. For the most part nowadays, I use Google.

Opera can be customized to use many search engines this way... at least I know it works with Dogpile & Altavista which are the only ones I use aside from Google. (& very rarely Yahoo)

hotbot/altavista were my original choices back in the day, and on occasion, lycos. I think I moved over to yahoo for a little, and then google. I think I'm missing one, but I can't remember. These days I actually will use live as an alternative before yahoo.... I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not...

I used yahooligans as a wee lad in computer class, altavista, then askjeeves, and finally google.

Some of the other search technologies are probably better than google in some respects, but I'm pretty stuck in my ways.

Before Google, I used Metacrawler. Ask and Live! Search aren't bad, but Google is the default for Firefox.

I also use the Netflix, IMDB, and Wikipedia search engines as well.

Same here, minus yahoo. Hotbot was the Google of the 20th century, impressive results. The website was painful too look at though, but that can be said for most things 90s.
