Brian, how's that socket 940>939 conversion goin'?
He cut a pin off his VIA chip and stuck it on his 939 chip. Problem solved.
WRONG! I had a 940 pin AMD chip and I cut one off and stuck it in a 939 board. All the extra pin is for is the ECC to check memory errors. Since I'm not using ECC memory, I don't need that pin so I cut it off. It's the smartest thing I ever did.
Might you take a picture and highlight which pin we should remove please? I would like to do this also!![]()
Here is a picture of the CPU after the pin is removed. I circled where it used to be so that you can mod your CPU too! No need to thank me, I understand you're excited that you'll soon be using a processor without that Emergency Coruption Check stuff. (a type of memory, I mean, everyone needs to reply, I mean in Soveit Russia..., I mean the message is clear, I mean SPIDER, I mean WTFBBQ hi2u.)
Oh and FIRST POST!
