Ya, but It will hinder Performance to an extent.
It's all about the price to performance ratio though. Also 2GB of Value RAM would be much better then 1GB of low latency RAM.
Why, because you have more?
The only game that I can think of that needs even 1GB is BF2 right now.1
And value won't limit the overclock?
Then why does every single review on RAM say otherwise? If you take a gig of Kingston Value RAM and a gig of OCZ, you can bet the OCZ will overclock better.
Not to mention A64's like low latencies more than Intel does.
Please remember to research people. Case in point, jfindon
1. And EQ2, and WOW and Lineage2. Remember, people dont jsut game. Encoding/Decodig/Photoshop/Compression/Decompression is affected by more ram more than lower latencies.
2. Obviosuly you never OCed before, otherwise you'd heard of a divider. Dividers allow yuor ram to run at stockj or close to stock speeds while your FSB rises far above normal. EX. a 250FSB speed with a 166mhz Divider would make your CPU run 250x11(2750mhz) while yor ram ran at 206mhz(412mhz DDR rate)
3. Never heard of the Famous 939 Memory Matrix on these forums eh? Search it up, It shows everything but Sisuck Sandra, and Winrar were affected no more than 1% with a AMD64 2-2-2 and 3-3-3 latencies.
