After trying a few brands, I've been quite happy with Vaseline total moisture conditioning. But I'm not a day laborer so my hands aren't under extreme conditions.

You could pick a pair of (spa?) gloves at the dollar store and a cheap thing of vaseline. Rub vaseline on chapped hands. Put on gloves. Sleep. I can't stand wearing clothes when I sleep though so that shit doesn't fly for me but it would be cheap and effective.

Oh yeah I forgot about those gloves.
Walmart has them too. As does Bath & Body Works. And I think your local grocery store, right between the bath oils and loofah scrubbers.

Found that Vaseline Intensive Rescue Moisture Locking works best for me if I need some OTC lotion (most OTC stuff will actually burn my hands). I have a prescription that I often get in the winter that helps a lot.

with the cold weather my hands are chapped.

went to walmart to get some lotion.
omg... soooo many choices.

$0.99 tube of lotion suave - relieves extreme dry hands

relieves? doesnt sound like healing to me

alot of brands have similiar jargon words

so which lotion actually helps heal dry chapped hands? links to product comparisons?

wait, did you actually buy some lotion? or were you so confused w/ all the brands that you actually went all the way home to create a thread asking which lotion to buy?

Yup, this. Eucerin is the bomb.

Eucerin Calming Cream works wonders, and isn't quite as greasy feeling as the original Tub.

I always liked pure cocoa butter stick. I've heard great things about bag balm, but never used it.

Based on this thread I tried bag balm. Have to say, do not like. Leaves skin feeling greasy and it smells. It kept my hands from cracking/drying out but left them feeling like snake skin, not soft like the Neutrogena lotion.

The best solution is to not try to treat dry hands. Instead, prevent them from getting dry in the first place. The best tip that I've ever gotten was from a dermatologist who said to try bath oil instead of soap when washing hands. Do it every time you wash your hands. It works wonders.

Bath oil is essentially mineral oil with a bit of soap. It takes a couple weeks to get used to since it doesn't feel like it rinses off. But, once you do, you'll never go back and you'll stop needing to do anything about dry hands.
