I would use component on a CRT hdtv, and HDMI for LCD or Plasma. Reason? CRT is native analog, but LCD and Plasma are digital. So its logical...

lol

why is this funny to you?

lol. i was going to ask how come your ban was so short, then i look at the posted date. :p

Some of the people posting in this forum sound like they work at Best Buy. Good times. I would have 2 reasons for using HDMI over component. 1. Less clutter. 2. Upconverting DVD player.

Here's a new one for you to argue about.

I say 1080P is a marketing gimmick (with the slim (very slim) chance that a console game would be produced for 1080P) and the picture for a movie is no better than a 1080i set.

I just can't see spending $100+ on a video/audio cable.

I just got a 42" 1080i LCD TV and I will be hooking it up to an 8300HD Time Warner DVR box (it has HDMI).

Oh, and your LCD probably isn't really 1080i :p

There's no argument there. Progressive > Interlaced. 1080p > everything else. The year is almost 2007 and HD = 1080p.
