Which is a better board for OCing a quad?

Building a new system and I've pretty much decided I'm going to do a quad core OC.

I was pretty much set to get an abit IP35 mobo until I saw the q6600 bundled with an Intel 975XBX2KR at TigerDirect. (Price wasn't exactly the deal of the century but seemed fair none the less).

The Intel board seems to have some nice features like dual PCIE x16's, Firewire, and a PATA 133 controller plus it's a genuine Intel board. That said, I've read really good things about some of the P35 based boards too (namely the abit IP35 family and the Gigabyte P35-xxxx line).

What would you guys recommend for a good quad core OCing board given a choice between the abit IP35 and the Intel I mentioned?

Thanks,
JR..

For overclocking a quad, you'd be much happier with either the Gigabyte P35-DS4 or Abit IP-35 Pro. Plus, they both support Penryn's, and the 975X doesn't.

Thanks for the replies. You've pretty much confirmed what my gut was telling me. I had already fingered the abit IP35 as my board to begin with.

One more question though regarding the abit boards:
Aside from the additional PCIE x16 slot and the JMicron raid controller, what is the single biggest advantage of the IP35 Pro over the standard IP35?

Are there any distinct advantages the IP35 Pro holds over the IP35 strictly in regards to overclocking?

(OK, that was two - sue me:) )

I didn't think that board was being sold to US markets, besides, if there is no real gain between the IP35 and IP35 Pro (see previous post), then I'll probably opt for the cheaper IP35 at around $120.

Not to change my own subject, but how well to the 680i boards do with OCing? Everything I've read says that P35/X38 is the way to go. (I'm asking because my brother just bought a EVGA 680i board for his new build along with an E6750).

Just curious...
