Which hours would you rather work?

I live a good distance from my work - 40 miles or so. I work 6am-3pm to get around traffic.

I'm down to my last few classes and can't really pick the times like I used to. Everything is on Saturday except one class, which is MW 8pm-9:15pm.

I'm thinking about moving my work schedule to 10am-7pm so I don't have such dead space between the time I get off work and the time my class starts.

Opinion? Would you rather stay up late, sleep late, and go to work late or go to bed early, get to work early, and have a few more hours of daylight?

I work 6:30 - 4:00. I go to bed early and get up early. I'm used to the schedule. You'll get used to whatever schedule you have to. I used to work 3rd shift and it took about 2 weeks to get used to that.

I wouldn't want to be at work at 7:00pm, but if it helps your scholastic schedule then do it.

i am a "morning" person and feel most productive at that time. I vote for the first choice.

Anything but my monday *class* schedule..

9-10
11-12
2-3...

All my other days are filled up 8-4...except Monday has to be screwy 🙁

I work 7AM-5PM (4days). Only reason it isn't earlier is I already wake up @~5AM to go to the gym. I am way more fresh in the morning and I like my evenings to include vegging out 🙂.

Personally, there's no way I'd ever go to class if I was getting off work at 3:00 and then had to be at school five hours later.

In your circumstance, I would change my hours to 10-7.

i like day shift. i work 8-4. pretty cushy hours. i get to go home and have dinner with my wife.

when i was a student i worked midnights at a donut shop and that worked out for me.

when i was working in a factory in my younger years i didn't mind working afternoons so i could go drinking after work and sleep in.

basically it's different for everyone, what shift you like most depends on what is going on in your life and what is important to you.

but if you're asking me personally, i like working days.

I really liked the 6-3 schedule but this class being at 8 really kills the deal.

In order to get up at ~5:00am I need to be in bed around 10pm. If I get out of class at 9:15 there's no way I'd be able to get home and wind down in enough time.

I've gotten used to getting up early so I would definitely go with the 6-3. I just feel like I wasted the day if I'm not out of bed early

I work 6-3 right now and definitely prefer it. I'm a morning guy, plus getting off at 3 in the Summer is pretty great.

I get off work at 4 pm and wish I could leave earlier. Because I take public transit I'm somewhat tied to their schedule. If I wanted to be up reaaaal early I could work from 7 to 3:30 but that half hour is not worth waking up so early.

All that being said, I doubt you'll get much done before 10 am so you might as well be at work early. I would be happy to have a break between work and class. Plenty of time to hit they gym and eat. Stay busy so you don't get lazy and miss class.

Finishing up a project so I've been working 7 to 6 with an hour drive each way. normally i'm 8 to 5:30 but i can't adjust it because I have to be available for support when others are working

I prefer getting work over with as quickly as possible and then having time to do stuff at night. I worked 7:30-4. Used to be 7-3:30 until a couple weeks ago but I was forced to change. 🙁

My natural schedule, no matter what, seems to be around ~1pm to ~5am. So swing shift is my ideal work schedule.

Obviously I get used to whatever work schedule I have, but it only takes one day for me to get back on that schedule. No matter what time I get up on Friday, I'll stay up until 3-6am.

Its weird.. lol. I guess I'm just a night owl.

I used to think working 10-7 was good and also often worked 1-10, but I would always be thinking about work prior to the start of my shift and couldn't really have any "downtime". When I worked 6-3, I would be tired in the morning but have very relaxing afternoons/evenings.
