10-7, no question. I hate mornings with a passion... I'd prefer stay up until 4 or 5 in the morning every night if I could. Nothing I like to do happens in the morning anyway. Pool halls are closed, comedy clubs are closed, movie theaters are closed, there's nothing good on TV, and everyone I know is probably asleep. I mean, sure, theoretically if I was off at 3 I could do those things in the afternoon and evening... except I'd be so damn tired from getting up at 5am that I'd probably nap for a few hours and waste all that "additional" daytime I'd get.

I'd rather work 8-5 or 9-6 than either of those, but if I had to choose, I'd do 10-7. I'm not a morning person.

9-6 is my favorite. You miss the worst traffic but you still get out relatively early.

I'd rather show up at about 10, work till 11, take lunch from 11 till 2, work till 3, take break till 5, then go home at 5:30...just like any self-respecting government employee. 😀

I've worked some odd and fucked up shifts in my career, so as long as I don't have to work graveyard, it really doesn't matter much to me. 6-3 is a pretty easy shift, gives you plenty of "afternoon time," but some fucked up people would rather have the extra time in the morning...so it really depends on you...what you find easier/better.

Out of those, the 6-3..no contest. I don't like getting up early, but at least the day isn't gone by the time you get home.

i would like to be a morning person, but i can't get to sleep early enough. i always end up going to bed late and then working 10-6. i really want to change this though. any tips on how to help me

It took 3-4 alarm clocks scattered all around and not allowing myself to take afternoon naps that would force me to go to sleep around 10. Now that I'm used to it I never wake up later than about 7, even on the weekends, no matter how late I stay up.

easier said than done, especially since you've been doing it since college. if i try and go to bed earlier than my normal body time wants, i just lie in bed for a long time 🙁

I've rotated through 6-2, 2-10, and 10-6. Each time it takes about 2 weeks to fully adjust your body clock. Tell yourself its ok to go to bed at 8 or 9 and tire yourself out hours before bedtime with some physical activity

That being said, to answer the question:

10-7 if thats the only option, otherwise I'll take my current 2-10.

theres no choice for graveyard shift... if i could, id work 10pm-7am. sleep till 230ish and have a full day anyway. right now i work 8-430pm and i hate it. i get home too late to really do much after getting kids from school and such. i miss working at 6am and getting the kids directly from school at 330 and going home.

currently, I work 3 days a week 9 am - 7 pm and 1 day 6 am - 4 pm.

the 6 am days kill me... I'm grouchy at work and tired/groggy the whole rest of the day (especially now that I don't drink caffeine or sugar drinks anymore). getting out at 4 pm is nice, especially when I ride my bike to work, but 7 pm isn't bad. my only real complaint about it is that it kinda cuts down on my cleaning every day, but that's made up for with the extra day off of work... I usually get home by 7:30 pm, cook dinner, then by the time dinner's done cooking, prime time shows are on, and then WoW raiding after that... but I pack a lot of cleaning into my days off on tuesdays thanks to server maintenance 😛

While I make my own schedule, I much prefer an early one. It's great to sleep in, but even better to be off earlier in the afternoon and have a huge chunk of time to be productive or just chill.

The problem is that my MW class really ruins it

I'm going to give the 10-7 a try for a week or so to see how things go.

Update -

Class last night ROYALLY sucked. It was almost impossible to go in the first place, and then once I got home it took me an hour to wind down and go to sleep. End result - oversleeping.

I'm going to try working out before class on Wednesday and see if that helps...
