I like fusetalk more than vB. vB feels too cluttered, expecialy with the emoticon diarrhea that most forums have

ive got a question.... i help run a vbuletin site. We are running a 3.0.7 site with alot of hacks. How has peoples experinces been with doing this? Im specifically worried with the amount of hacks we have done would be hard to fix once we upgrade. So any experinces.

Also does anybody know if any of the vbulletin variables were changed? We wrote a custom script (for a pickem) that used alot of vbulletin variables to work.... did any of the major ones change?

Upgrading to 3.0.8 is rather trivial.

Upgrading to 3.5.0, though... will be a nightmare for you. Nearly all hacks, customizations, and skins are being redeveloped (ported) for 3.5.0, to use the plugin (hooks) system, which is *MUCH* better than in past versions.

I can't tell you exactly what all has changed, as I haven't personally browsed through the new code; however, I will tell you that I've read that 3.5.0 changed a significant amount of code in nearly all of the files, and that it would be more than a miracle if a 3.0.x hack worked on 3.5.0.

Too bad I didn't know how to make skins. I would make one that looks relitavely close to Fusetalk.
