Which do you think has more prestige? Acura or Lexus?

You should really associate the other way around. It's more like WV has merged into the line of cars Audi has.
Look at the early/mid 90's and go from there. Audi > WV any day. 😉

Lexus definitely has more prestige, but like others, I'd take a modern Acura over a Lexus (oh wait, I did).

Bought the Audi first. Great car, really, really good build quality (better than MB or BMW). Upkeep is starting to be a real PITA. Timing belt/water pump change can cost up to $1500 (if you go to a dealer), front upper/lower control arms = $1000, etc etc.

More recently acquired the Lexus. Build quality and reliability are the best in the business, bar none. Drives great...my next car will also be a Lexus. :thumbsup:

Lexus without a doubt is more prestigious than Acura. Acura cars are not in the same league as Lexus.

As long as they keep building luxury Civics, they'll be preventing themselves from moving upscale (that, and lack of RWD+V8).

Look at it this way.
What $50k luxury car buyer wants to be driving a car from the same make that every other 17 year old-ricer owns as well?

That's why they won't be taken seriously in the luxury car world.

You gotta love a quality post backed by personal experience with mutliple cars and hard numbers supporting it.

From a prestige standpoint - Lexus
From a build standpoint - Lexus
From a resale standpoint - Lexus

But I do like the new TL quite a bit. Toyota is just the best car company in the world. I have owned or long term driven: Acura, Audi, BMW, Honda Lexus, MB & Toyota and I always come back to Toyota/Lexus. MB's are unreliable, BMWs & Audis are expensive upkeeps & Acuras just arent as nice (opinion). Lexus, and even the higher end Toyotas take the prize. They are just great, simple cars that will more often rust away before they stop running.
