You excited me with your news so I looked it up

"The next generation Intel processor based on the Nehalem architecture is clearly exciting as VR-Zone has learned. Successor to quad core Yorkfield which forms part of the 45nm Penryn architecture, Bloomfield will come along and sit right on top of the 45nm Nehalem desktop processors in mid 2008. Bloomfield will have 4 cores and is capable of 8 threads like the old Hyper-Threading technology but only more advanced. Bloomfield will contain an integrated memory controller that requires a new socket refresh called Socket B with 1366 contact pads."

45nm, 4core with hyperthreading + ondie mem controller.. thats massive :Q
Its mid '08 though, thats a long time for me to wait. Maybe i can hold out.. depends if Nvidias G81 requires a faster CPU if I can hold out or not.

I bought an opteron 165 recently so I voted for one of those. Plenty fast for me @ 2.81GHz :) I have no desire to get a C2D

check out the poll! 111 votes!

old result after 91 votes: 38% buying E6300/6400 this holiday!! Roughly 66% going with Intel dual and 26% AMD.

new result 111 votes: E6300/6400 lead drop to 37%. AMD dual cores gained 4% to near 30%! Looks like dual core AMD is still pretty hot.
