Oh god yes. I facepalm everytime I see people with tinted halogens, simulating 9K, that are so dim they're basically useless.

even "true" 9000 kelvin would be dim. HID is about lumen output, not color. what everyone is simulating is the cut-off, which is a factor of the lens/projector setup, not the capsule

Wait, so what you're saying by everyone simulating the cut-off, is people are actually going through the trouble of changing out their reflectors for HID projection but not getting the ballast and xenon bulbs to go with it? I've yet to see these people. That's a lot more trouble and money than simply changing out the bulb. What I've seen on the road are very dim, very blue, scattered headlights, which are the cheap blue-tinted halogen bulbs that they bought at Autozone or Pepboys (which are illegal to use now in most states).

Where do you live that people are going about spending their time and money in the dumbest way possible? I can understand why people would simply buy a tinted halogen bulb thinking they can chince their way to HIDs, because they're ignorant and cheap. But changing out the housing just for that cut-off line? Lol. So fail.
