Which car 3000GT VR4, Mustang GT, or 300ZX?

What car would you buy out of the mix of cars. I'm debating which one to get I guess I should test them all out and see what feels the best.

I'm assuming 300ZX twin turbo, right? I'd go with either the VR4 or the Fairlady Z... between the two, I'd go with the VR4 just because I see way more TT Z's out there. Both can be modded nicely 🙂

It would depend on what year Mustang GT. The other two could turn into huge money pits and the GT depending on the year could be too slow for me.

Get a VR-4. Do it, they rock, when it comes down to it ont he street nothin can beat AWD stoplight to stoplight. Check out www.3si.org for more info on the VR-4. You will quickly find out that they are a special car and you will have little to no trouble getting one into thee into the 11's with BPU + upgraded turbo's. All while maintaing a full interior and ferrari killin looks.

Mustang GT. Cheap, easy to fix, easy to upgrade, sounds great, has 35 years of history behind it, etc....

The other two are nice cars, too. I'd take the 300zx over the VR4, though.

it'll be tough to find a vr4 or zx in good condition. most of the ones sold today have well over 100,000 miles on them and have had lots of problems..actually maybe not so much with the zx, but definitely the 3000gt. between the two i'd pick the vr4, simply because of awd and the fact that it has a backseat..you have to have some practicality in them right?? and plus it looks a whole lot better 🙂

for near hassle free thrills and for the best value, a mustang would be the best, and most practical choice.

if you look for either of the japanese cars with the twin turbos, you'll either pay a LOT if it's in good condition..but if you find a good price for one you'll likely have to plunk down a whole lot for repairs. and keep in mind they're no longer in production...

that said one of my dream cars is a vr4 spyder, with the original retractable hardtop 🙂

still, you can't beat an 8-cyl mustang convertible for the price 😎

that's my .02

My friend was looking at getting a 3000GT VR-4 but didn't for a few simple reasons. That car has more fit and finish as well as maintainence problems than the world can deal with. You want to talk about a money pit look no farther than a VR4. I don't care much for the 300ZX. Have you thought Supra? What year Mustang are you looking at. You can find a plethora of info on all years and engines at the corral.net or various other mustang websites. Simply put, the Mustang GT has the largest aftermarket of any car ever. Period.

Thinking realistically and practically, you're going to get the most for your money, and have the best selection, with a Mustang.

As cool as the other two are, and as great as they used to be, they are all getting pretty old and crusty. The ones that aren?t in somewhat rough shape aren?t being sold too often. Ditto for the Supra. A Supra in excellent condition can go for the same price as it did when new.

You haven't even mentioned how much money you have.

I have a 3000GT - not a VR4 though unfortunatly. 🙁
Anyway I'm going to have to ask you how you could possibly put a 3000GT VR4 and a Mustang GT in the same thread... how dare you! 😛
They are in completly different leagues and one looks much better and is much faster (stock anyway). But I might be a little biased. 😉
Go here for any questions you may have about 3000GTs.

But yes if you're looking for something that is cheap to mod and is cheaper to repair then by all means get the Mustang. The VR4 will be fairly expensive in comparison especially if you happen to get one that wasn't taken care of. I'm having my 60K maintenance done on my car right now and the parts were $505... the labor is $670 to install those parts. I'll find out today how much I actually end up paying them.

For the price you'll end up paying for a decent shaped VR4 or 300ZX, you could almost nab a Mustang Cobra that's half as old, and has half the miles.

The problem with Mustangs is they are too damn common. Everybody in America has either owned or had a friend/family member that has owned a Mustang. That is why I decided to get my 3000GT instead of a GT or Cobra. I like having a car that is rare and stands out/gets lots of looks. I see maybe 1-3 3000GTs/Stealths a week.... I see that many Mustangs at any given intersection. Same goes for Camaros & Firebirds.

i'd go for the nissan. I'm not sure how they all rank performance wise relative to each other, but any of the three would be more than enough to suite my speed desires. After that, the nissan just looks nicest and i know nissan trucks will take one hell of a beating from personally experience, i assume atleast some of that goes for the cars as well.

300ZX, I prefer a car that doesn't weight close to 2 tons 🙂 And a mustang doesn't have the handling of a 300ZX without mods
