My vote has to be Weezer. Blue and Pinkerton are two of the true classics of their time, but everything since has been just horrible.
OK, see, Pinkerton is terrible. Nobody really likes Pinkerton, people just say they do because it means you were "down from day one" or something. I agree that everything since Blue has been horrible, but Pinkerton was pretty terrible to begin with, so IMHO, that doesn't make for a fall off.

pinkerton has the finest tracks they've put out... the good life, el scorcho, butterfly, pink triangle, getchoo, etc.

Going back to the mid 70's -

Fleetwood Mac (Fleetwood Mac) and Rumors

Great music, tons of hits from both albums . . . .

then 'Tusk' . . . puke.

the band, for all practical purposes, died with that turkey.

Tusk was their best album if you discount most of Lindsey's homemade tracks. Sara, Brown Eyes, Storms, Tusk, Walk a Thin Line, Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Beautiful Child are the highlights.

Dave Matthews/ Dave Matthews Band.

There's a reason the jackass college guys only keep playing the first couple of albums on their $1000 stereo systems in dorm rooms everywhere.

There have been a few good songs here and there, but it's kinda like "what the hell is this?"

After they ditched Steve Lillywhite (starting with Everyday) then things got ******, except for Busted Stuff, which was just a re-recording of the Lillywhite Sessions. Before These Crowded Streets is their best album.

Pearl Jam.

I can listen to Ten and Vs. all day long, but with the exception of a few songs here and there I just can't get through any of their other albums.

Yeah, what a slow and painful downhill spiral their career has been

Counting Crows had two great rock albums, and then they became a weak pop band.

August & Satellites were OK, the latter being much better and my favourite. This Desert Life had more rainy-day songs on it (Amy Hit the Atmosphere, Four Days, Speedway, Colourblind, High Life, All My Friends, Mrs. Potter's Lullaby).

Hard Candy was OK, if you would just forget "American Girls" was ever created.

I'd have to say Incubus. Their first album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., was simply amazing. Stunning even. Then they progressively got worse, and I just tried to listen to Morning View for the first time and nearly puked. That's just disgusting.

So, you all?

I was the complete opposite. I thought Morning View was there only really good work.

the other two were just Meh. IMO

Alanis Morsette. Jagged Little Pill was a top 20 selling cd/album of all time. Like 14 million copies. Everything after that album was crap.

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998) was better. "Uninvited" from the city of angels soundtrack is her best song.

i do recall thoroughly enjoying the first system of a down cd, been a while though, but i liked it and remember when the second came out i though "oh fvck me, they sold out, this is gonna blow"

ive liked a couple of songs a little from them, but not much. oh well

Nickelback.

Curb was great. The State was pretty good too. Silver Side Up was teeny-bopper horsecrap, and I didn't even bother listening to the remanufactured slurry of diseased mucus, putrid rat diarrhea, and aborted fetus material they put out after it.

SCIENCE was their best. unfortunately DJ Lyfe was a jackass and the band's never been the same since he left. Mike Einziger and Brandon Boyd have amazing talent though.

Prison Song is a great opener.

Hootie and the Blowfish. They ruled the charts for a year or so, then nothing.

Wow. Big time. Isn't that one album still ranked in the top 10 best selling albums of all time? I actually like it still, but since then... nothing.

The Metallica suggestion is good too.

True, thoose 2 albums are great, but the rest have been... blah.

I got Yeild because I really liked Do The Evolution. But if you deleted all the other tracks from the album off my HD I'd never get around to pulling out the CD and re-ripping them. And I doubt I'd even notice that you did.

Really? I liked Yield better than Ten. I put Yield on the same level as VS and Vitalogy.

Personally, Yield is my favorite album by them.

I agree. PJ shouldn't even be mentioned in this thread, IMO.

stone roses and oasis have to be up there. maybe talking heads as well, those last couple albums were pretty shady, but they had quite a few great releases before that.

I think Cracked Rear View is one of the best-selling albums of all time.

So, you all?

I will start by saying old Incubus is still my favorite band ever.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E is definitely their crown masterpiece. My favorite album of all time. i don't like idiot box and summer romance, and deep inside is meh... but the sheer strength of the other songs blew my collective mind when i heard it. calgone is my personal favorite.

Make Yourself was also very very good, and i love that album as well.

Morning View, i enjoyed, but not nearly as much as their previous works. a handful of good songs. i knew then that something had changed.

and then the "Crow" disaster. i listened to it as i drove home from Best Buy, and i was saddened. my favorite band had turned suck. i almost thought about crying a little when i heard "Pistola". that song is just plain horrible.

so in conclusion, i agree incubus is indeed the band that has fallen farthest. from S.C.I.E.N.C.E to the "Crow" garbage, i still mourn their fall from greatness. i guess they just got bored of their awesome early sound and had to experiment a tad too much. i knew bad things were coming when Einziger got rid of his PRS guitars and Mesa Boogies in favor of fender jazzmasters/jaguars and VOX AC30's WTF????? i knew very bad things were coming when Dirk Lance left the band. but i knew bad things were coming when they became oh so very popular.

*sigh*

at least i got to see them play live when they were not quite in their current state of suckiness. best concert ever.

🙁

'southern girl' is OK off that album.

Metallica. Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning were both pretty much flawless. Master of Puppets had The Thing That Should Not Be and Damage Inc., so I'd say that album was great but needed improvement. ...And Justice For all not only had Dyer's Eve and Blackened which both sucked as well, but the drumming was pretty poor, so I'd say that that album was average. The Black album had only a couple of good ones and was over all pretty bad. Load had nothing notable at all in it, so that one was bad as well. Reload has Fuel but that was it, so that one just barely improved. Lastly, you have St. Anger with every single song being emo crap.

I think my eyes almost started bleeding after reading this - you're calling the Black Album bad - an album that included Enter Sandman, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, and Nothing Else Matters - bad? I think not. ...And Justice For All - definitely not an average album - One and Harvester of Sorrow. Nuff said.

Then comes the controversy of Load & Reload - yes, they are slower and not typical of anything they had previously done - but does that mean they are bad? Everyone was pissed because they tried something different (and cut their hair). Garage, Inc. was definitely a great album - got me listening to bands that I never even heard of before.

St. Anger - yet again, something different - granted the drums sounding like he's beating on a beer keg gets real annoying real quick, i think the album is still alright. The only album I can say that I can honestly live without is S&M - same songs with a symphony doesnt do anything for me.

I'm not trying to bash or anything, but i've been listening to Metallica since i was 10 yrs old. Definitely one of my favorite bands of all time.

P.S. - surprised no one mentioned Staind - they suck nowadays.

OK, The Black Album was over all pretty bad? I LOVE their first few, but how can you say that "Black" was bad? That's crazy. I think their last three were basically terrible, but not to the degree of Incubus' decline, or the Stone Roses'.

I agree about Metallica. The Black album was some of their best work IMO. I also really enjoyed load and reload as well as their early stuff. The only album I didn't like by Metallica was St. Anger

No way, Pinkerton was good. Everything after Pinkerton was bad. 🙂

pinkerton was horrible. and beverly hills is a catchy song.

and people need to stop saying things like "this album sold 1809230493430 copies and was top 10 then i never heard him/her/them on the radio again!" n'sync sells a lot of albums and they suck rocks. there are bands that put out great albums time after time that will never be top 10 or sells trillions of copies.

People actually think Pinkerton was horrible? Wow....

I love Blue and Pinkerton. Green had some nice poppy songs, but didn't really last for me. I remember Maladroit had a couple of good songs. I mainly remember Keep Fishin'. It seemed like a lot was filler. All I've heard of the new one is Beverly Hills - was kind of catchy but didn't make me want to buy the album.
