I really liked Incubus up through Morning View. While there was a tremendous difference between Science and MV, I wouldnt call it a change for the worse, just a change. Where they lost me was the Crow to the Left album. Wow another anti government song, thanks ! There definately isnt enough of them these days. Completely un-inspiring crap thrown together to $$ in on current events.

As for bands that have fallen, I would have to say Disturbed. Loved their first album, believe was meh, 1000 fists was WTF is this ?

OKay, I gotta say this about a band I love:

Offspring

Ignition: Killer, full of energy.
Smash: Tons of sweet songs.
*fast forward*
Americana: A few good ones, some really bad ones that made it to the radio and were played way WAY too much. (ie: Get a Job.)
Conspiracy of One and Splinter: Half good, half "what band is this?!"

Disturbed? I think they are making a little return. Believe was a HORRIBLE album, but 10000 Fists is much more like their original album than Believe. I think it's pretty damn good.

The Offspring I really liked up to Americana. Conspiracy of One I enjoyed listening to, but it just all sounded the same to me. My favorite albums from them are Smash and Ignition.

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned either Bush or Korn!
Bush put out a great first album. They had an awesome sound and some really kick ass tunes. Then, they released Razorblade Suitcase, which sort of sounded like Sixteen Stone, but it seemed like the band kept getting confused halfway through their songs and shifting styles. Getting slower and more abstract. The Science of Things was meh...couple good songs...their final album was complete garbage.

Korn...really good first album, followed by Life is Peachy. I think that's probably my favorite album from them. Then, they released the more mainstream Follow the Leader, which I still thought was really good. Along comes Issues, and blip, their fan base just dissolved. Do you hear the utter crap they release on the radio now? It makes me cry to listen to them.

but...Bush was never that good😉 Gavin's solo career is looking good either😉 Their are times when a reviewer gets an album review right, and well, dispite the great sales Sixteen Stones had, the album wa snever that great to begin with. As with Razor Blade suitcase....you hit the nail on the head with that one.

.

I know, its not a popular opinion. Pretty much all of my friends agree with you re: the fists album, but I just don't get it. Maybe it will grow on me, who knows.

I almost mentioned Korn as well, they were one of my favorites back in the day. Notice they started falling off the same time they started collaborating with Durst ?

Coincidence ? hmm....

I think you fail. You're only supposed to post names of people/bands that were once good. John Mayer doesn't even fall into that category.

Let's go way back. Iron Butterfly. You can probably remember their one hit which was an entire album side. They did actually have another album ot two, but failed to ever deliver anything even remotely as good as In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

Pearl Jam.

I can listen to Ten and Vs. all day long, but with the exception of a few songs here and there I just can't get through any of their other albums.

True, thoose 2 albums are great, but the rest have been... blah.

I got Yeild because I really liked Do The Evolution. But if you deleted all the other tracks from the album off my HD I'd never get around to pulling out the CD and re-ripping them. And I doubt I'd even notice that you did.

Really? I liked Yield better than Ten. I put Yield on the same level as VS and Vitalogy.

Personally, Yield is my favorite album by them.

Nothing Else Matters, Hero of the Day, and a few others were pretty darn slow for what was originally a fast paced metal band.
Slow? Yes.

Bad? No.

(Also, what's Hero of the Day?)

(Also again, doesn't the beginning to "Wherever I May Roam" give you chills? I LOVE that beginning.)

Hero Of The Day is a Song offLoad a good song IMO, i like most of load and reload as well as Gerrage Inc, only one i dont really like is St Anger

Heck yeah! "Brain of J" as opener and "All Those Yesterdays" as ender (and everything inbetween of course) = AWESOME!

exactly what i was thinking,

Disturbed loved thier first album and everything since

Offspring - they seem to have just decided that they would have one big hit per album and then the rest would be medicore...Spliter was bad, there wasn't really anything standoutish on it and it was so short.

Bush - I tried to like the science of things..i really did but i just couldn't and Golden State was just a mess.

Korn - I dunno what happened to them they were so good until issues they they got all freaky. I can't stand their new stuff I heard thier new song on the radio and thought it was Marlyn Manson.

Spoken like someone who has only heard the lame radio singles. He is an excellent songwriter, an adept guitarist, and a craptastic bluesman.

In 5 short years he put out 2 awesome albums (Inside Wants Out, Room For Squares) and one good one (Heavier Things). But the fact that his upcoming turkey of a blues album has not been released yet is the only thing keeping him off the list.

Most bands/writers evolve. You like one album, you're not too hot on the next album, the one after that positively sucks.

Mayer, on the other hand, is working hard on an absolute tailspin.

Korn has always sucked, so they dont count

Hmm ....
There a lot of bands that I think qualify for this.

I think In Flames is probably the best example
Lunar Strain ... Good album overall, heavy, fast, entertaining.
The Jester Race ... Awesome, Just awesome. From Moonshield to Dead God in Me, this album rocks.
Whoracle ... IMO this is by far the best In Flames Album. It Features their greatest song "Episode 666." This album is fvcking great
Colony ... Overall still a "catchy" album. It's not quite as agressive as their past, but it's still very worth listening to IMO.
Clayman ... First and Second times I heard it, I actually thought this album was awesome. After more plays, it starts to get boring. "Only For the Weak" is a great track, however, this is definatly downhill from Colony which was definatly downhill from Whoracle.
Reroute To Remain ... I listened to this album once. I did not like it at all. This is kinda like In Flames version of "Load"

I haven't listened to anything newwer then that from them, but if it's anywhere at all like Reroute to Remain, then I don't care to hear them ever.

I'd have to say Incubus. Their first album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., was simply amazing. Stunning even. Then they progressively got worse, and I just tried to listen to Morning View for the first time and nearly puked. That's just disgusting.

So, you all?

not even close... Metallica is the worst ever for that type of band

Offspring I still enjoy, even their new stuff. I just think they dont get the playtime some of their songs deserve...but I do have to agree some of the songs on their recent releases have been "WTF?"
