I run with whatever is built into Windows 10.
Prior, I ran MSE.

I visit a variety of sites.

For years, I haven't seen any behaviour on my machines that makes me think I'm infected.

Maybe I'm silently infected?

To those that run actual AV software, how often are you positively being infected, and the AV software is legitimately removing a real virus ?

MSE and whatever is built into Windows 10 literally never talk to me.

I probably see about 2-3 per year, almost always on some site with a bunch of ads all over. I haven't seen one since using an ad blocker. Even then, I'd expect maybe 1 per year from various place, such as downloading a .DLL to aid in utilizing Windows debug message queue (last non-ad virus I recall).

Windows Defender, Malwarebytes and Spybot Search & Destroy as well as adblock plus common sense in not visiting shoddy sites especially ones that runs java or downloading software that you shouldn't be getting your hands on like an .exe that claims to tweak some regedit enteries or changes the Windows theme or a mod for a game (LOTS of World of Warcraft mods were in .exes and contained disgusting viruses).

I used to use AVG years ago but the sub cost has gone up triple and has gotten worse in quality.

I'll agree with the rest who say none. I don't use any A/V software and really never have on my PCs. I don't want bloat running in the background if I can help it either.
