<< <why do you say they are in a different class, both are perfectly flat, both will do 1280x1084 at 75mHz.>>
That doesn't make them the same class. The P991 is a Trinitron, which is an Aperture Grille technology, the 955DF is a DynaFlat, Samsung's Shadow Mask technology. These two are completely different beasts. Besides the difference in tube, the P991 is capable of refreshing at more than 90Hz at 1280x1024 compared to 955DF's maximum of 80Hz; and the P991 easily does 85Hz at 1600x1200, while the 955DF can only manage a laughable 65Hz at 1600x1200. These two belong to difference classes, the 955DF is an extreme value monitor, while the P991 is near professional level. That's why I say if you want to compare, compare the P991 to Samsung's 900NF of the same class. >>
OK I see where you are coming from, Some people feel the shadow mask is better than aperture grill, for viewing though. I haven't made up my mind yet, i've got a 15 inch trinitron at home and a 19 inch shadow mask, but I 'm not happy with the 19inch,
so I'm really leaning towards the P991, i'm just trying to get the cost down closer to $300, like techbargains has on their front page
