I hate it when this happens: no milk in the fridge after an intense workout. I'm sure some of you guys face this from time to time. What else can/do you take the whey protein with in a jiffy (in liquid form) and still have it taste ok?

I drink my whey protein with water all the time, doesn't taste that bad. What brand whey do you buy?

I always just mix mine with water. What crap are you using?

I use the double chocolate ON whey and have never found it disgusting, it always tastes good just shaken with water.

Optimum Nutrition Chocolate Whey is just fine with water. But, to me, it is a bit too runny. So, I use about 25% less water than it calls for. Then I add a heaping spoonful of Benefiber. The water amount is about 50% less than the Benefiber calls for. The result is that it all dissolves, but it is thick and almost creamy. What could be healthier than fiber and protein?

Although I recently got in on a slickdeal for 3 5lb tubs of all the whey protein, cinnamon bun which isn't too bad with water too.

I'm using Simply Whey right now. Not my preferred choice but I got this from a nearby store (for almost 2x the price!) because I couldn't wait for the ProStar Ultimate Nutrition to arrive via eBay.

Yeah, I thought I read milk slows the absorption rate.

Indeed. Milk has Casein protein which is a slow digesting protein in it which I believe slows they when if mixed together. Whey + water post workout FTW. (I use whey + dextrose a.k.a. powdered gatorade for my post work out shake)

Oh, and Optimum Whey FTW for those who said ON Whey :)

A lot of people I've talked to like Morning Moo, which is basically powdered milk - long shelf life (10 years) and they say it actually tastes like milk. It's about $20 for a #10 can iirc:

You can just mix this up anytime you want for either milk or a protein shake base.

I just got done with my 5lb ON vanilla whey...used water most of the time but always put ice cubes with it in a blender. Was a mediocre taste...using milk made it 10x better.

Just got started on my All The Whey (great deal, b2g1 free deal at bodybuilding.com and great reviews) vanilla protein and it tastes better with water than ON did.

Anyway, with my 3x 5lb containers of protein I also got a few free samples of strawberry muscle milk and that + water tasted absolutely amazing.

Casein sort of gels up in the stomach, which is why it's great for late-night protein because it works through the night due to the slow digestion.

Anything protein served together with casein kind of gets caught up in gel, so the whey is delivered slower.

A great way is to make a smoothie. A smoothie without milk. So use like strawberry and banana, peanut butter and banana, and maybe even oats with the PB&B. Use some water and add whey to that.

Or, just mix it with water, chug it down, and chase it if need be. I too prefer my whey mixed with milk.
I've got some O.N. stuff, but my current mix I've been using is EAS Protein Complete or something like that. Has Whey, Soy, and Casein, plus basically the complete roster of amino acids and whatnot. Was at Costco for like $35 for 6lb bag, and the Chocolate is tasty.

I take ON Double Chocolate as well (love it!) but it's a little too thick with milk for me. Sometimes if I take it with milk i feel nauseated. However, with water it's fine. Have u tried Muscle Milk as well? That one goes well with water.

I use ON DC. I drank it with water one time because some over analytical meat-head on the BB forums made a big deal about absorption rate. I wanted to try it. Never again.

What brand do you have? I have pure isolate and it tastes great in water.

@indamixx, MM is an MRP not really whey protein.
