1) Why does Whey protein have so much cholesterol in it? Is this good cholesterol rather than bad?

2) If you have to eat out what do you normally go for? I guess this could be split between fast food and sit down restaurant food. For a fast food example, if you have to eat at chic'fil'a are their salads ok?

edit: also what about boston market? their food seems healthy, but i know its processed so does that mean its not really worth eating over a salad from some where?

thanks

If you gotta eat out a salad is generally a good choice, IMO. Just try to get low fat dressing, and do not use the whole packet in any case. Skip all the crap they put on it like croutons, tortilla strips, etc. If its high on cheese i'd tell them to go light on the cheese. Also if they put chicken on it make sure it's grilled and not fried.

Boston market has a lot of choices that don't include any processed foods. You can get a few slices of turkey with steamed veges and/or green beans. Just stay away from the cornbread (it's good, just not good for you).

Whey proteins do not have a lot of cholesterol per se. Relatively speaking say a typical whey protein has 50mg cholesterol per serving, while 1 egg has something like 220 and I think USRDA max is 300. I have seen varying amount of cholesterol in different whey protein products. Whey protein is made from milk and as such will usually have some cholesterol in it naturally. How much they remove or break down I cannot say. I see some whey proteins at 25mg cholesterol per serving while others have 65. If it concerns you, I'd say shop around.
