I was in Saudi Arabia when it started. My mom and dad woke me up and told. I just went back to sleep. I was 10! We had all the windows sealed with tape (that is the best anyone could do) and had all the AC ducts blocked. We also had this one empty "emergency" room. Everyone was issued gas masks, and I used to play with them all the time. Every 2 - 3 days sirens would go off when there would be an attack. That's about it. All television ever showed was CNN and BBC, nothing else. Everyone was really worried, water, packed food and emergency lights were selling like hot cakes. Outside, cars with Kuwaiti number plates were everywhere (refugees).

I was teaching a night class at a tech school. We stopped and went to the lounge to watch TV.

I don't remember. I can tell you where I was when the Challenger disaster or 9/11 happened, but the day the gulf war started doesn't seem so memorable.

Dave,

I don't know how you guys do it. I don't mind being deployed onboard the carriers, but I don't know if I could make it in the sub.

I was at home watching four monitors...had two "C" band dishes going. I was picking up live feeds from the deck of a carrier, watching planes launching, missles going off. Some of the feeds from Bagdad were fantastic. Didn't get any sleep that night...

I was sitting 2 miles South of the boarder of Kuwait with the rest of the 2nd Marine Div. for the "Air War" start. For the ground war I was inside of Kuwait with in 20 minutes of the 1st crossing.

i was in grade 4 and our teacher told us.

she was a complete nut and told us that we were going to be attacked and that the world was changing and our lives were going to be different and blah blah blah we are all going to die.

we were so upset from this obviously, thank god the french teacher was actually sane and understood what was going on in the world and explained to us.
