Thinking NYC(Manhattan), LA, SF, maybe San Diego.

Although I don't know if I wanna pay California's LCD tax. :colbert:

Any other thoughts of great places to live?

Reference: I'll be in Seattle for college.

EDIT: Note: I've never really traveled anywhere... so, I don't know anything about most cities. The two cities I've been to are Portland and Seattle. That's about it...

Wherever they'll pay you to work.

this.

OP, you seem to only be considering the absolute most expensive places to live, just out of college.

Are you expecting your degree in whatever to guarantee you six figures off the bat, zero experience, and will you be furious when that doesn't happen?

I'm really not worried about that at all. I'll be making decent bank for my first job in the industry.

I'll be making over $60k for my first job, and that's the low-end.

LCD Tax? Really? You're worried about paying a nominal amount versus the bazillion of other taxes we have here?

Stay away.

Usually you go where you get a job. Not the other way around.

wherever you land a job.

I've lived in LA and SF, and spent a lot of time in SD.

If given the choice, I would live in SD.

I've heard the weather is great there. That's what lures me to it the most. ^_^

I'd like to live in Manhattan just for the population density. Maybe I'll live there for a month and see if I like it or something. :awe:

i actually like your attitude in this situation, might as well try some different areas while youre young and not tied down to anything.

SF, LA, SD and Santa Barbara would all be on my list

no you wont. I am an EE and my first job I made 55k in BOSTON. DO not be dumb and think 60K is waiting for you just because you get that paper.

Your mom's basement. It's really the only place you've ever been comfortable.

Graduation statistics say otherwise, sir.

Take those with a grain of salt...same with the "salary.com" stats. Those are best case scenarios and usually not a "true" average. Also, they take into no real good account true cost of living differences.

graduation statistics are always optimistic so you'll go to the college dumbass. I know plenty of people who have both gotten good jobs or have been waiting a while in shitty jobs.

Hopefully in 4 years the job market will be better, but you're still entering in a terrible time.

so someone has given you an offer some 4 years in advance?

you are guaranteed nothing until you sign a contract or are hired.

Are you just looking at median salaries for your expected industry?
