Mine are daily wearers, and I trash the hell out of them. I have varying levels of shoe cleanliness, new ones for the town, to trashed ones for the yard and truck driving.
That's why I go for the 600 series on sale. I'd kill any shoe in the same amount of time. I'm bad that way:p

Hey, I'm the same way except that I don't wear new shoes around town, just OK shoes. New are for special occasions. Trashers are for the tough stuff around the house. I could probably count 6 or so pairs of New Balance 11 4E's around here. One is new, 3 are OK, 2-3 are kind of beat up. Occasionally I toss them in the washing machine.

I'll be keeping my eyes open for sales for them. It's a bit rough because I usually find they don't have my size. I guess I could get them on the phone.

Nordys stocks the 11 4E, at least up here. It's my size....

I have wide feet too (10 3E) and finding ANYTHING that would fit was a huge pain in the ass. I was finally able to find a New Balance outlet store here in Raleigh. I would think there's one in Berkley.

THESE are what I wore for workboots for most of my career in constuction. A bit more expensive than the cheapo POS boots you can buy at Wally-World, but IMO, they're worth every dime.
I've always said that there are two things you shouldn't scrimp on...your boots and your bed. You spend too much time in one and not enough time in the other...so each should be the best you can get...

Yeah, Flintstone brake pads...I have to have them relined every year or so...

Pricey, but I bet they last a lot longer than el-cheapo's..

Usually they do. Of course, it depends on what kind of work you do...I've totally destroyed them in less than 6 months before...but that's the exception, not the rule.
Those boots can be completely "rebuilt" for less than half the price of a new pair. (you get everything below the laces replaced) I've had pairs over the years that were rebuilt several times.

Using New Balance's store finder, the first hit is the small sporting goods store across the street from U.C. Berkeley where I used to buy my New Balance shoes, generally tennis shoes, sometimes other athletic shoes. I bought there because I didn't know where else I could find them at the time. They were somewhat expensive there and I came to buy them usually on sale at large (!) athletic stores around here. However, they often if not usually didn't have 4E, so it was a pain to check them out. I'd go through all their New Balance looking for 4E. Fit took priority over aesthetics and even style, to some degree.

The small store can order from a catalogue in my size, but I pay a premium.

I didn't know New Balance shoes were so hard to find. Have to tried looking at any store? :p - Really though, pretty much any shoe place should have em. There's a couple of stores dedicated to New Balance here in Tucson.

It does suck having wide feet. I wear 4E and they are still kinda tight. 90% of NB shoes are old man jogging shoes. They finally got some good looking new styles in not too long ago (Zips I think they were called) and they don't come in wide sizes. Bah. No cool shoes for me.

It's not that New Balance shoes are difficult to find, hell, every shoe store in the country carries them, but finding them in the wide sizes can be tough...

Yeah, I'd never heard of them but searching found the site and they had the ones I wanted in the size I wanted and at the best price I saw, so I went with them. I had a thought to search and see if I could find a coupon code, but didn't. I should have!

I got my NB 902BB's a couple of days ago. At first I thought "boy, they look silly" (especially with the silver stuff and the plastic coated colored portion), but they are obviously really really well made (compared to the 600 series NB cross trainers I'm used to). I also was skeptical of the lacing system. It's not the usual laces through holes but they have a special system using tubes instead of holes. I thought this would be a problem but now I see that it's actually an ingenious system (as long as it proves durable). The great thing about this lacing system is that it's really easy to get the shoes on and off and to cinch the laces up just exactly as tight at you like! I believe I'm going to be able to use these as skate shoes without going to the trouble of sewing on big velcro straps for the top of the shoes, such as I have on my old skate uppers (also basketball shoes, Nikes). That will save me a lot of work. Once on the skate trucks I don't think I'll give a second thought to the style. They'll look fine. Also, they feel great already!

Bump for us webfooters, and to see if things have changed or anyone has some thing(s) to add to the discussion. Also, I need some more New Balance (or other acceptable wide practical shoes). However, I haven't bought anything other than 4E New Balance for several years!

GO asics!

But for wide shows, go to zappos.

Also, try new balance outlets. They have a few of them in MA.

For getting shoes in 4E sizes at a B&M I use Rogan's. They are the only place I have ever found that carried that size.

Same here ... I usually wear 12 4E, but I am comfortable in 11.5 5E too .... Rogan's always has shoes for work as well as gym shoes that fit me well, they aren't the cheapest place, but they are not at all a ripoff/super expensive either...

They have a website where you can buy online, and it has a store locator as well...
http://www.rogansshoes.com/

I have been to the one in Buffalo Grove IL like 3 or 4 times in the last 5 or 6 years ..... it's the only time I've been in a shoe store in the last 5-6 years! I HATE shopping for shoes.

kohls.

and they always have sales. i don't know how they stay in business.

Your Kohl's must be different than the one here...This store carries almost NOTHING in wide widths...once in a while, you'll find something in an "E" width, but nothing for us folks with big feet.
