While it is too late for those of you who have lost, excuse me, misplaced your remote control devices, here is an idea, a project as it were, for the rest of you.
Take a piece of 1x8 (pine will do but oak has CLASS) lumber, cut it to about 12 to 15 inches in length and apply an appropriate length of "sticky back" velcro to the aforementioned board, perpendicular to its length, one strip for each remote you wish to keep up with. Peel off the other side of the velcro and attach to the underside of the remote control. Allow each velcro strip to "cure" (get really good and attached) to its respective home.
Your remote(s) now has (have) a home. It is inordinately difficult to lose a board of this size; properly stained, it makes a handsome addition to any coffee table. You can pick up the board, turn it upside down, shake it all about (indeed, one can do a veritable hokey pokey), and nary a remote shall be lost. Excuse me. Misplaced.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
I remain, etc., etc.
