Where the hell are the matches at walmart?

I went through the firemaking section, the grill section, household cleaning section, the camping section, checked near the registers where they sell lighters, and went up and down what seems to be every single aisle and I could not find one single match that wasn't of the expensive waterproof variety or the super-expensive 6" long style matches. Where the hell are they?

I'm sort of pissed my Walmart doesn't have a 'firemaking' section. What am I missing out on? Do they have flamethrowers there?

I'm not a smoker, but if you're looking for cheap matches, I think Costco sells them by the box for retailers to give away with cigarette purchases.

Kitchen matches are nearly impossible to find any more. I have a 1950 Welbit stove/oven that uses matches to light the oven. I ran out last year and the only place I could find kitchen matches was at Home Depot in the BBQ section. And even then they were hippy "green" matches that barely had any match on it and blow out easy. I think strike anywhere matches are non-existent in NYC.

Maybe the decorative section where they sell candles and stuff. Failing that maybe in one of the impulse buy shelves near the cash. I know they often have lighters there.

Either way I would just ask someone. I think it's a guy thing to never want to ask, but I just swallow my pride and ask if I can't find something. 😛

Checked several impulse buy locations and it was a no go. But damn, I didn't think to check the candle section 😵. This is what ATOT is for.

typically they are in the aisle where the paper plates, plastic forks, picnic supplies are, at least in ours anyway.

That's what google says but I went up and down that aisle 5 time minimum and no luck.

Usually I'd get them from the camping section, at least in the Walmart up by my grandmothers house in Door County Wisconsin.
At home I dont really buy matches, a torch style cigar lighter tends to meet & exceed any/all of my firemaking needs.

Did you fill out the proper forms? You aren't granted access to the restricted matches department without the proper documentation and background check.

Oh right, they're usually in the restricted area, that's where the vinegar is too.
Failing that it might be in the fireworks section, right next to the kerosene bottles. Look for the propane tanks and it's going to be one aisle over. If you get to the guns you went too far.

One of two places.

With the ashtrays. This would be in the housewares section. I've never been in a Walmart that didn't sell ashtrays.

With the the kitchen gadgets. Usually a long wall display of utensils, peelers, timers, measuring spoons, etc, with a few shelves beneath them and/or off to the side.
