I'm looking for the best quality/price/location relationship with an emphasis on price.

Any suggestions?

Where should I look for the best deals?

People who have been there can tell you where to stay, but one good way to get deals is to sign up for the e-newsletters at the properties you might want to stay at. I still haven't even been to Vegas yet (planning on going this summer probably) but I get e-mails all the time with awesome deals. $99 a night at the Venetian (which usually goes for $230+/night) is just one example.

From what I hear for middle of the road pricing, location, and enteratainment options, the MGM Grand might be a good fit.

Girlfriend stayed in Circus Circus. Said it was cheap and on the strip, but still within some walking distance of most of the good places.

We are going this fall and probably will stay there or someplace like MGM, Luxor, or (damn...cant remember the Castle one...). Which all 3 are middle of the strip kinda places.

Honestly, find a place that is the cheapest and closest to the strip. That way you can walk from casino to casino seeing all the free things and hitting up all the slots you can handle. ;)

Where you stay is irrevelant. You really are only going to be sleeping there and not really staying in the 'home' casino that much if you anything like me.

Edit: Excaliber...thats it...also cheap'ish and center of the strip.

Circus Circus is crap... I stayed at the Luxor a couple years ago and it was alright... not too expensive either. Excalibur is okay as well. Caesar's Palace is pretty good (they have a dinner/magic show that should not be missed). The Mirage is great if you're into Carribean stuff... they also have a nice pool/grotto that looks cool at night.

EDIT: but yeah, no matter where you stay, check out the special dinner show at Caesar's Palace (you go underground to ancient dining halls and stuff... probably the best deal you'll find when it comes to entertainment with food

Stay away from circus circus unless you don't mind fighting off crazy kids running all over the place. The Flamingo has a very nice pool area if I remember correctly. We ended up staying in the super 8 next to the army base or something. Too many people to fight off and my dad has absolutely no patience.

Staying at the Rio gets you in a separate guest line for their seafood buffet essentially moving you in front of all the non-guests and that line can get pretty long...

I dont believe the answers to your question, price seems to be your main consideration.

Stay downtown they are all first class hotels and the casinos are right next to each other, the Golden Nugget is a prime hotel casino and rooms can be had for $30.00 except on friday and sat. Rent a car for about $20.00 a day, save a bundle on taxi fare.

I have been to Vegas for 2 months a year for many many years if you would like to PM me I can tell you almost all the free stuff and great places to go that are free.

Staying in Vegas really depends on what you plan to do while you're there. If you want to see as many hotel-casinos in the shortest walking distance possible, stay center-Strip. If cost is a major concern and you only need a place to shower and sleep, look for Best Westerns, etc., a little off the strip. I don't gamble, so I base my decision on the pool and/or nightclub.

Imperial Palace is usually the cheapest you'll find center-Strip. But it IS a dive. Other relatively inexpensive and centrally located are: Paris, Alladin - fairly new (refurbished) and Flamingo Hilton - nice pool

Luxor and Excaliber are usually cheaper than most but they're near the end of the Strip, next to Mandalay Bay

My favorite places to stay have awesome pools and nightclubs, but are usually cost a lot more: Mandalay Bay, and the Hard Rock. I also hear the Palms is a very hip spot.

This is very true they are very nice. the Hard Rock is a pretty small casino but the hotel is great.
The palms because it is new is a great spot for young (under 30)
The problem is neither is on or near the strip in fact the Hard Rock is not even close to anothe casino, it is right down the street from the Alladin, about a mile and a half I would judge.

If you're over 30, you won't like the HardRock (It's full of 19 year old finger puppets) The Flamingo is priced nicely for it's location. You might want to check that out.

Good advice. I stayed there last summer - real nice place and reasonale rates. The buffet is decent and popular. Downtown is much nicer than it used to be.

Downtown rocks but during the week (S-T) chech out Treasure Island, Mirage and maybe Harrahs. You might be pleasantly surprised.

If you're going alone and don't care about the room, then consider the Westward Ho. It's a dump, but dirt cheap, plus you can park your car right outside your room door.

If you book in advance you can usually get a room in excalibur (if you don't advance book you can't get a room there) for $30ish a night. They have a really great pool, the rooms are clean and the tables are cheaper than other casinos.

It totally depends on what you want to do. If you are there for the sights, attractions, amusement rides, nightlife...stay on the strip.

If you are like me and go for gambling and value, stay downtown. Much cheaper, everything is in EASY walking distance, and its dirt cheap.
