Not anymore. The Palms is where its at. I was there this past weekend, place is insane. Rain and the Ghost Bar are the sickest bar/clubs I've been to. Rain is like a Cancun-style discotheque, but classier. The Ghost Bar is kind of a Jetson's-style bar thats at the top of the hotel, so you can walk out on the balcony and see the entire strip. If you look over the edge, its like you're hovering in space. We were there for a bachelor party for one of my best friends, and there were a few NFL'ers in our party, so we got hooked up everywhere we went.

All the stars/athletes hang out at the Palm. We saw McNabb, Charles Woodson, Seau, Barkley, Emmitt, Steve Harvey, Brad Pitt and I'm sure a zillion other celebs I didn't even recognize in my drunken stupor at Rain Friday night. It's a super-hip young crowd...hotties everywhere. The dancefloor is just raucous.....great times. The line is insane, so you'll definitely want to try and find a hook-up to get in, or you simply won't get in. I heard a lot of stars were in for the Roy Jones Jr./Ruiz fight, but supposedly its like that all the time. Hef and some playmates were hanging out at Cleopatra's in Caesar's, which was pretty cool too.

Btw, Mandalay was soooo dead. We stopped by Rum Jungle on Thursday night. It was empty, and the guy still wanted to charge us $20 a head. Not to mention they charged me $38 for 2 Stohli and pseudo-RedBulls. It was much better the last time I was there (Oct. 2001). Barkley was supposedly there though. We stayed at MGM this time around, which is a good compromise. Its a huge Casino/hotel, but you get a good mix of crowd there and both Studio and their new state-of-the-art bar/lounge Tabu have good nightly crowds. We'll definitely be staying at the Palms next go around though.

We ended up staying in the super 8 next to the army base or something. Too many people to fight off and my dad has absolutely no patience.

Talking about fightking off crazy kids.

We were exploring The Excalibur, went downstairs, damn there were kids EVERYWHERE!!!

I would stay somewhere centrally located like Paris Paris, New York, etc.

I've been to vegas 6 times in a year period.

The best hotel in my opinion: The Venetian, Mandalay Bay & Bellagio ($139 and above)

The best mid range hotel in the strip: Paris, MGM Grand, Alladin ($60 and above)

If you'd like a resort, go to the Hyatt Lake mead. It is marvellous.

Please let us know how much exactly you;d like to spend on hotel. In my opinion, since you're in Vegas, the heaven of the earth, you might as well get a good hotel and enjoy your stay there :)

You might be able to get good prices from priceline as well. Check

I stayed at the Excalibur during Comdex. It was a nice place. If I had to go again, I would try the luxor. It looks like it would be really cool ;)

another good, inexpensive, center of strip hotel is The New Frontier. it's kind of a divey type place, the restaurant/bar inside, Gilley's, is awesome if you like country music.

I was just there last week...TravelAxe found us a badass deal on The Monte Carlo. Nice, good-sized rooms, great pool, decent casino (very tastefully done, but not very 'exciting'), Lance Burton (if you're into the whole gay magician thing ;)) great location (right next to NY, NY, across from MGM Grand, walking distance to Aladdin, Paris, Luxor etc.)

I only do MB or the Venetian. You can get good prices on both if your registered and do it well ahead of time. You might even get them for free. ;)

If you do Venetian, go after June 20th cause they're opening up the new tower then and its gonna be awesome.

And the Rio has one helluva buffet. Make sure to eat there.

Just went for the first time this year, stayed at the Venetian. Had a great time. Rooms can be pricey though.

The only reason that I'm jumping in this thread is to tell you to make sure and swing through Red Rock Canyon if you rent a car. It is breath taking.

I agree with RossMan. If you don't want to drive everywhere, a place like New York, New York, Paris, MGM Grand.
Venetian and Monte Carlo are also a decent distance from places.

Excalibur is nice right on the strip and affordable...Stratosphere is decent also, but its at the end of the strip.

Took the wife last Nov. $400 a night x5nights = Bellagio.
I would have been Happy with Motel6.....somehow the wife always gets her way. ;) If ya ever get a chance it is a nice place. From your room window you can watch the fountain show and tune to channel 29? and listen to the music that goes with the water.

just had the seafood buffet there. $30...worth EVERY $. they had EVERYTHING imaginable about seafood, including lobster tails + scallops. the only minor complaint is that they dont have peeled shrimp. you gota peel them yourself. :(

casino royale best for craps. $2min, 100x odds. and normally, if you had #'s on the table, and the shooter hits the point, then rolls a 7 on the new passline bet, your bets usually come down. but at casino royale, you can get your odds back on. just pay the $ lost to the 7, usually $2-$12. and these are the true odds, not the place bets :)
