Where should I go on my honeymoon?

Wedding is in July.
I have 2 weeks off, but want to keep it to about 7-10 days.
I don't want to just sit on the beach or by a pool all day. I want stuff to do.
We enjoy historical places, museums, aquariums, etc.
Don't really care about the nightlife. We aren't huge into partying or dancing.
She loves being near the water.
I'd like to keep it around $3500 for airfare and hotel.

I can advise you on where NOT to go ... Disney World!

PLEASE don't come to DW ... Mickey begs you ...

Where do you live?

I think Iceland is cheap these days.

You read my mind. flights to iceland are ~$700 per person roundtrip via icelandair. plus the exchange rate is very favorable(at least compared to recent years)

dude...fucking A you are about to fail.

she mentioned water for a reason.

Your honeymoon is about exploring your wife, not places.

Take a vacation together after if you want to learn about stuff.

that said Failboat Cruises would make a great destination.

My wife and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon. We flew to Honolulu's airport from TN...then caught a small jet to Kauai for a week. On the trip back, we stayed in Waikiki for one night and flew out on the red eye so we had a day and a half downtown. It was nice contrast from Kauai's atmosphere (quiet and secluded)....

I recommend hawaii if you can find a deal on airfare. It's great because there's no passport required and you don't have to worry about security issues...it's a relatively safe place with great people and something you'll always remember. Each island has its own unique attractions and beaches are different everywhere... Don't try to see all of the islands in one trip. It takes days to explore everything properly.

Now...my advice despite where you go. Make sure you build a few days in between your wedding and your honeymoon. We actually didn't take our honeymoon until a full week after our wedding. It allowed us to visit with family the weekend we got married since everyone had flown and drove in. It was worth it.....then after dealing with all of the wedding gifts and formalities, we got to exhale and relax for a week. Weddings aren't meant to be stressful, but it's the culmination of a lot of planning and emotion. It's good to take time to come back to earth before heading out.

🙂 I really believe this. Too many marriages (SO's as well) are created today out of security rather than synergy...it's sad to me.

I talk to a lot of people, and when honeymoons come up it's rare to hear about how the two were involved. You usually hear only about how 'he' did this and 'she' did that and 'they' have all this pictures and memories...yet not much is together. They are often GREAT vacations though.

This past week my wife and I spent a week just lying around a pool and on the beach. It was a vacation we didn't plan (my grandmother has a timeshare for two weeks on Ft. Lauderdale-by-the-sea and could only stay 1 week). We have been married 5 years nearly and it's been the first time we just mingled with each other and no one else had to be entertained.

She is an older Japanese woman and with that PDA and the like is rare...however; on this trip everything just happened. She finally let her guard down for a little while, while out and about.

Today she has been cleaning veggies and preparing meat for the last hour on our vacation recovery day...

work tomorrow 🙁

If one of you have not been to Disney, consider it! My first time at Disney was for my honeymoon and it was the best thing ever. Just be sure to get a hotel that is on the monorail

Nigeria. While you are there maybe you can get my money back that some king's cousin stole from me. $30,000,000 I can share... my ass.
