I have 2 weeks off, but want to keep it to about 7-10 days.
I don't want to just sit on the beach or by a pool all day. I want stuff to do.
We enjoy historical places, museums, aquariums, etc.
Don't really care about the nightlife. We aren't huge into partying or dancing.
She loves being near the water.
I'd like to keep it around $3500 for airfare and hotel.

i went to Maui on mine for 10 nights/11 days, and it seems to fit your description.

there is a ton to see there (if you like nature) and you can even take hopper planes to the other islands if you want to go see Pearl Harbor one day.

Maui is also very low key and there really is no night life there either (which my wife and I kind of wished it DID have when we went, but still had an amazing time).

oh and you are by a lot of water too 😛 Maui has some amazing snorkeling and diving (screw aquariums when you can see them in the ocean) and a lot of it can be done from the shore.

we paid $4500 total for our flight, hotel (Westin Maui), and rental car for our 10 nights/11 days there, and this was last September. Flights now are cheaper I believe.

WTF YOU FUCKING SLACKERS

WHERE IS KRYLON WHEN WE NEED HIM

......

Pics?

You should be able to get all-inclusive trips to Mexico, at nice resorts for less than $1000 each. There's plenty of stuff to do and see, in addition to laying around the beach all day. Don't let the swine-flu hysteria scare you off.

if cold water (scenic) works, then I've heard Banff & Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada are real nice.

My long-late dad loved it there. I haven't been yet.....someday.

banff would be a great place. lots of stuff to do and see, nice rooms in case you decide to stay in for long periods of time.

I can advise you on where NOT to go ... Disney World!

PLEASE don't come to DW ... Mickey begs you ...

If the tourists stop coming we will have to start paying state income tax to cover the state budget... is that what you want?

Also, my wife and I went to St. Augustine for our honeymoon in 2003. I can recommend a great place to stay called Casa de Solana. A tad pricey but worth it. On top of that you won't need a car to get around town, you can park your car and spend all week there without needing it.

Hmm, I took a 4 day in the Disney World parks and 3 day Disney Cruise for my honeymoon.

I think we've pretty much decided on somewhere in the Caribbean. Which island/resort should we stay at for the most privacy? I'd love to be able to walk out of our door directly onto the beach, and to not have to see anyone unless I want to.
