The US is indeed a part of the bible in giant, unabiguous ways if you can see the forest for the trees. The blessings of this country are not by accident. God keeps his promises.

I still say you're naive to think the world's going to end in the next few years.

When did I say few? When did I even say years??

Do you think the US is still going to be around in 1,000 years?

Well, judging by the current string of fulfilled prophecy, my guess would be that we're looking at something closer to the next few/several decades, not thousand years. ;)

Why couldn't it be another 1,000 years? People have thought the end was near for the last 2,000 years, they were sure of it.

Unfortunately the end may be near for Stargate SG1, unless another network picks it up. Apparently the Ori cannot save themselves and the end IS near for them :(

Well, I can't say it *wouldn't* be another 1,000 years, but compared to Bible prophecy fulfilled in the last 100 years it would be a tougher sell to consider another 1,000 years passing before rapture/2nd coming/Armageddon, etc. vs. some time more in the near future.

As for SG1...............alas.........methinks she is doomed to go the way of the tower of Babyl........:p

Try reading the Book of Mormon. It contains a prophecy about America and its destiny. It's pretty good actually.

The United States is not directly mentioned in the Bible.
Perhaps thats because our future is directly related to our actions?
It so often is you know.

Oh Come on! 1776 is in the eighteen century, the USA is not even 250 years old yet. What are you, Training for competition in Lenos' Jaywalking?

There are many websites that talk about this subject....

yet the most widely held belief is that we will be iether destropyed via a random nuclear attack or there will br such calamity on our own soil that we will need to regress into an isolationist state and deal with our own peoblems.

Many scholars believe there will me multiple catastrophies happen all at once or with a short time table of each other to and including earthquakes and hurricanes as well as other natural disasters.......

I for one would not worry about if the United states is in Bible prophecie....

Here are so websites --

States like Virginia claim 400 years...

If you consider it during the first moments of realization (inception), then it would be ~500 years old. If you consider it during its infancy/childhood, then its still older than 250 years. If you consider it once it declared itself an independent state (adulthood) then it would be 230 years... (it wasn't officially recognized until 1783-84)

The United states is represented in the book of Revelation. Throughout the whole bible whenever talking about prophecies the nations and governments are symbolized by "beasts". Different types of wild beasts and such. It's actually quite clear and easier to follow when you start looking at it.

Anyway all the other "beasts" (or nations) have already come and gone out of power. And the United States and Britain are represented also. There is only one small prophecy left and that is that the king of the north and kind of the south are to battle. As of now the new king of the North us unknown and that prophecy is waiting fulfilment.

I'd get out all the information and scriptures but I really dont want to go through a ton of research right now. But it's in there.

There are numerous ways of interpreting(important) the prophecies. "Babylon", for eg, might be interpreted as the historical Babylon or it might just be a simile to someone else. Persoanlly I lean to the simile side of things. The specific places mentioned are meant to be a guidepost for something else. Learn what the originals are like(history) and you'll see the actual players spoken about. It is not Geography, but cultural, moral, and other factors shared between the originals and the ones mentioned in prophecy.

This thread is a good example of why an book like the Bible ends up worshipped, give it a few centuries and the same will be said of Dan Brown books mark my words.

That's the problem with a prophecy, it's open to interpretation, and given enough time, whatever the hell is written will happen at some point, in some interpretation.

They could say A great battle will unfurl beneath the full moon blah blah... Hmm, in 1500 years maybe there will be a war at the right time of the month, wow, it predicts the future, or maybe a few hours from now, there'll be a chess game in a room with a moon-esque lightbulb. Oh my, I understand the prophecy now, wow, it predicts the future.

I call shens on the prophets.

I thought we were all supposed to die when it hit 2000?

Does it just get pushed back to a later date over the ages since none of that ever happens?

I saw something on the history channel about this. Seems that if you're REALLY loose in your biblical interpretation then you can squeeze the U.S. in there.

How loose?? (And if I'm assuming the references you're talking about............Aren't we only talking about "west"???)

???

And, no, I don't intend this to be a topic of flame-wars, but a genuine discussion of where and how the United States of America (arguably the greatest nation in the history of mankind) can be included into Bible prophecy!

It can't because it didn't exist when men wrote it, therefore anything that one would claim to say such a thing is either a fabrication of the truth or a big stretch of whats written.

Because if it intends to "prophesy" about the "end times" and includes players from all of the other regions of the world......

(If you know Biblical prophecy, then you know that there are quite a few references to the return of nations past and much warring between them. How could middle east nations, including the rebirth of the Roman Empire.......((Europe?)).....become players in a global battle that would not include the U.S.??)

Does that make better sense??

(i.e. If we're talking "prophecy" then we're looking to the Bible for future events.)

OP, you really are acting dumb.

The U.S. in the grand scheme of things in World History doesn't play that huge of a significance. Sure, it is the most powerful nation in the world at this point in time. Also, no where in prophecy does it state the rebirth of the Roman Empire. Stop making things up. (There are interpretations, but they are just that)

The Israel nation is up and running again, but there are a few prophecies that haven't been completed yet. To say this is the end times, or to insinuate it, to try to prove the negative is stupid because not all the precursors have been done yet. (Namely one big one is the rebuilding of the temple) The temple hasn't existed since 70 A.D. BTW which was actually prophesized in the Bible. Don't be a tool and flamebait, OP. Respect others and they will respect you.
