Death Proof looks great, I don't have any desire to hear Tarantino jerk himself off in the second half.

I'm not a huge fan of Tarantino.. which puts me into the binary 'you hate him because he's popular' or 'you're right I hate him too' camp.
Frankly I just don't like his self-important/pretentious style, it isn't entertaining to me.

Death Proof is the Tarantino portion. Planet Terror is the other one with the wonderchick with one leg.

Whoops, then I change my statement, the first part looks much better.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I don't know if I will be seeing it in the theaters.

I read a review or two that stated that it isn't as cool as old Quent thought it would be. Basically, be prepared for a slow movie compared to the first one.

"Paramount and DreamWorks' figure-skating romp "Blades of Glory" remained the No. 1 movie with $23 million, followed for the second weekend by Disney's animated comedy "Meet the Robinsons" with $17 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

"Grindhouse," a three-hour reinvention of the down-and-dirty B-movie double features Tarantino and Rodriguez grew up watching, debuted at No. 4 with $11.6 million. (Review: Exciting 'Grindhouse' a wild ride)

It finished behind Sony's family comedy "Are We Done Yet?", starring Ice Cube in a sequel to "Are We There Yet?", which opened at No. 3 with $15 million."

Honestly it looked like absolute garbage to me, like most of Tarantino's films. It's for slack jawed idiots who are like 'oh it has a girl and guns in it..that's hawt' You can usually find these slobs wandering around in packs wearing white wife-beaters and backwards Red Sox or Yankees hats.

I saw it last night, and it was freaking awesome. I didnt realize i was sitting in my seat for about 4 hours. I had to go through like 3 different theaters to actually find a showing that was not sold out on a saturaday evening at 7. I got to buy an 8pm showing finally....

... and to tell you it was pure fun for 3 straight hours. Even the previews (that they made up) were awesome... A completely different movie experience from the past. And funny things were the "missing reel" parts. I can totally see that happening in old times...LOL

IMO that was the best part of the whole three hour deal. Best part... "they just f*$ked with the wrong Mexican".

Let me break it down for you. If you're a big Quentin fan you'll really dig it. If you're a more casual fan like myself and over the age of 20 you'll probably think it's a mostly pointless homage(as much story as a porno). Heck, maybe that's the point.

I got sucked in by the rotten tomatoes review. I figured they are so picky that anything rated that high had to be good. Wrong. I think they just rate it high because it has style and is different that the rest of what hollywierd pukes out.

I'll watch it... I don't think a single Tarantino movie has let me down yet.

Also, Rose McGowan.... where's my :Drool; icon!

Wow, thanks for lumping me in your incredibly pretentious opinion, as someone who doesn't wear a wife-beater, travel in packs, or a backwards NY/Bosox cap...

I enjoyed the flick for what it was... mindless, cheap action, filled with gallons of slime, good looking women, and scenes that make you go "huh?". Good for you that you cannot make up your own mind of a film, without having viewed it first. I'll be first in line to say that Tarantino is certainly not at the top of my list of favorite director/actors, and the only Rodriguez movie I recall seeing was Desperado.

Please, feel free to continue throwing your verbage out for public consumption.

Bad guy: "Where is my wife and daughter?!" - Next scene = Machete w/ naked wife & daughter

"Next time you hire Machete to kill the bad guys... make sure you're not the bad guy!"

I haven't seen a movie in a theater in a long time, but don't worry, I plan to buy it first chance I get.

That's basically the point of all Terantino films.

I've seen the previews for the movie and I've got no clue what it's about. Sure it looks cool with all the guns and explosions and shooting, not to mention the crazy one legged chick with the firearms for prosthetics, but what the heck is it about? I guess Pulp Fiction was like that too though. A whole bunch of seemingly disconnected stories that all tie into each other. Is that what this is going to be?

The first movie is about a zombie invasion (IIRC). The second movie is about a car that is death-proof (supposedly only for the driver). I believe in the second film he goes around in his death proof vehicle harrasing women, and they eventually fight back in some crazy roadrage action. The first film goes over-the-top on what people would do to survive a zombie invasion (tilting a hellicopter into a crowd of zombies, a rocket launcher for a leg, etc). Anyhow, I think that sums it up from the previews I've seen.

Edit: Also it's a double feature homage, so there is only 2 films, not sure if the preview confused you into thinking there were more, so I just wanted to clarify.

I think it's funny how that pile of dogshit "are we there yet" finished ahead of this.

Ignore Accipiter22. For some reason, he recently decided to adopt this faux Maddox-esque persona where he goes off on a half-cocked rant against anything someone may post something positive about.

Sadly, he lacks the wit, vocabulary, and comprehension skills to pull it off successfully.
