Assuming Heaven and Hell exists and assuming no one can be sure if his going to heaven or hell.
 
Also assuming Heaven is a place of eternal bliss, while Hell is a place of eternal pain and suffering?

I'd prefer if i didn't have to spend eternity in any place. As far as a choice between the two, i don't see anyone seriously picking the option of eternal torment.

Pretty much. I guess it comes from a wrong theological philosophy of thinking that hell is going to be a place where all the hedonists will party. Not true under the Judeo-Christian view.

In the Judeo-Christian view of Hell, it is a place where you are eternally seperated from G-d, which means that it will be a place of eternal torment since all things good come from G-d. Just stating what Christian view of Hell.
